School Principals Named for 2017-2018

Dear Methacton Family,


In an effort to address the immediate and long-term challenges before the Methacton School District and to best leverage the skills and talents of my leadership team, I have determined the following Principal and Supervisory structure effective June 19, 2017.

This announcement is provided at this time specifically to address the elementary transition process currently underway. Primarily, it provides a starting point for planning for the 2017-2018 school year. Furthermore, these changes provide an opportunity for all. For some, it provides the continuity necessary to foster a successful transition, while for others it provides a new opportunity. Most importantly, these assignments are made with an intent to continue to foster the mission and vision of the district.


Methacton Elementary Schools


Methacton elementary school principal assignments are as follows:

· Arrowhead Elementary School – Mr. Aaron Roberts

· Eagleville Elementary School – Dr. Zanthia Reddish

· Woodland Elementary School – Ms. Debra Euker

· Worcester Elementary School – Ms. Jenifer Brucker

Mr. Tim Murch will continue to serve as special education supervisor for grades kindergarten through four.


Skyview Upper Elementary School


Ms. Melissa Gorla will continue as the principal of Skyview Upper Elementary School and Ms. Judy Gallagher-Landis will serve as assistant principal. Ms. Danielle Fowlston will continue to serve as special education supervisor for grades five through eight, serving the needs of students at both Skyview and Arcola.


Arcola Intermediate School


No changes are planned for the administration of Arcola Intermediate School, with Ms. Amy Mangano continuing in her service as principal and Mr. Ryan Creeden as assistant principal.


Methacton High School


Mr. Jason Sorgini will be assigned as the principal of Methacton High School (MHS). Dr. Paul Spiewak, Dr. Karey Kochenour, Mr. Dan Bontempo, and Mr. John Smink will be the assistant principals at MHS. Dr. Jamie Gravinese will serve as the special education supervisor for grades nine through twelve.

Transition Planning

This newsletter is designed to give families of the Methacton School District practical information regarding the district's transition to (4) elementary schools in the 2017-2018 school year. Each newsletter will highlight tasks that are being worked on related to this transition as well as provide an overview timeline for this process.


At this point in time work continues on programming for the remaining K-4 buildings as well as developing a timeline for needed building projects. Attention will also turn to staffing in the coming weeks as we look to finalize staff placement by May 25th.


Many thanks to our H & S associations for holding successful "Meet & Greet" sessions last week. We are grateful for your support of our schools!

Date Reminders

Open House Tours - Time for families to check out the elementary school their child will attend next year. These events will offer tours led by current students.


Arrowhead - May 10th - 6 - 7 p.m.

Eagleville - June 1st - 6 - 7 p.m.

Woodland - May 16th - 6 - 7 p.m.

Worcester - May 3rd - 6 -7 p.m.


Classroom Assignment Letters will be mailed August 14th.


Kindergarten Orientation and Grade 1-4 "Meet and Greet" - Thursday, August 31st (afternoon). This will be an opportunity for children and their families to see their classroom and meet their teacher prior to the start of the school year.



Activities being planned:



School Meetings - students will gather according to their school for 2017-2018 and be visited by their principal and school counselor for the upcoming year.


Postcard Pals - In mid-May, Home & School volunteers will assist students as they write postcards about their current school during lunch. Each student transitioning to a new school in 2017-2018 will receive a postcard from a student at their new school.


Virtual Tours - A virtual tour of each elementary school will be produced and added as an on-line resource for transitioning families.

Kid's Corner

We are looking to include items on the district's transition page that are useful for our students. Does your child have a question about school next year? Please submit your child's question via information@methacton.org to help us as we create the "kid's corner" for transition.

Celebrating Audubon Elementary School

As planning begins for activities that will take place around the closure of Audubon Elementary School, Audubon Art Teacher Janet Aureden would like to invite any student with work hanging in the Audubon Art Gallery to attend the annual Audubon Art Show on April 27 at 6 p.m. where they will be recognized by Mrs. Aureden and receive their art work.

Our next newsletter (slated for April 28th) will focus on the program in each of the K-4 buildings anticipated for the 2017-2018 school year.
