SOLON INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
MONTHLY UPDATE - MAY 2020
PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
I still can't believe that it is already May. This school year has been filled with so many wonderful and unexpected memories! I know that the situation we find ourselves in is not easy. We miss our normal routines, school building, and daily social interactions. We miss our sense of normalcy, but I know that we will continue to get through this together.
I am so proud of our students, staff, and community! All of the SIS students have done an amazing job staying connected with one another. They have shared acts of kindness and continue to impress me with their passion and hard work! Please know that we are thinking of them often and hope they know how much we at SIS love and appreciate them.
Our teachers have done a wonderful job of adjusting to optional distance learning. They have continued to display the same dedication, collaboration, and student centered approach to everything they do, despite the challenges. We are fortunate to have a phenomenal group of educators by our side!
Our glass is certainly half full and we will continue to be #solonstrong <3
Take care,
Mrs. Tabor

CHANGES FOR THE 20-21 SCHOOL YEAR
To ensure a smooth transition, and best support for all, the district has added the position of school manager. This position will help support me with daily managerial and behavioral tasks so that I can focus on instructional leadership. I am happy to announce that Bryan Woods has accepted the 20-21 school manager position. Mr. Woods currently serves as Instructional Program Facilitator for the Solon School District. His calm demeanor, data-driven decision making, and student centered approach to education will prove to be a valuable asset to the Prek-5 team. Mr. Woods will be a wonderful addition to both buildings.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at jtabor@solon.k12.ia.us with any questions.
MEET MR. BRYAN WOODS, 20-21 LV & SIS SCHOOL MANAGER
A MESSAGE FROM MR. WOODS:
Dear Lakeview and SIS families,
I feel so fortunate and blessed to be assisting Mrs. Tabor at Lakeview and SIS next year in the School Manager role. This will be my third year in the Solon district and I am starting my ninth year in the field of education. Before Solon, I have taught science at the high school and middle school levels in Atlantic and Grinnell. These experiences have rounded me into a person who is very passionate about education, students and the communities they serve. My fiancée and I love the community of Solon and I am extremely excited to continue working in the best district in the state. I love to meet new people and would enjoy a conversation with any parent, student or stakeholder who would like to get to know me further. Please reach out.
Go Spartans!
