ACP - A Legacy of Hope
In an effort to give students more selection in classes, we have also added a few blended learning classrooms at ACP. This class allows students to take more of a variety of classes in one of their blocks and to work at a more self-driven pace. Shannon Holec and Aimee Dunford, our lead teachers for 23-24 are facilitating these classes. Students can also take an additional online course if they wish to add an additional course and either redo courses they have failed in the past or get ahead in credits. If interested, they should go see Mrs. Holec to inquire if they are eligible.
Our Principal, Juan Alvarez and our Facilities Director, CJ Freas have spent a great deal of time supporting our efforts to have a safe school. We have spent time talking to students about school rules and requirements and have been strictly enforcing things like dress code, tardies, PDA, appropriate language, and other school codes of conduct. Last week we went over topics like bullying and harassment so students understood what that looked like. We will continue to make this a priority to keep ACP a safe school for all students.
This year, we have also launched an advisory class for each teacher. This is a class that students will have for the full year on a weekly basis. We will be doing college and career readiness activities, socio-emotional learning, and also fun activities and competitions during this time each week on Thursdays. This is a great opportunities for students to get to know each other and their teachers a little better and have a consistent group for the full year.
We look forward to a great school year with you and are glad that you are here at ACP. Go Lions!
