NRHS Student Feature
Two students from Nashoba Regional High School embarked on a trip to southern Poland in August to deliver much needed school supplies to Ukrainian refugee children. Milan and Nikhil Siano spent the month of July collecting new and unused school supplies like notebooks, pencils, pens, and other needed materials. "We looked at all the stuff we bought for school and never really used and felt they could be of use to someone else." said Senior, Milan Siano. The two brothers set out bins in various locations through Lancaster, Stow, and Bolton to allow other students to drop off their unused supplies. "I couldn't believe how much we collected" Nikhil Siano remarked.
After carefully packing boxes and bags, the two boys set out on a journey to deliver the supplies. Their companion, Barbara Grzegrzolka, who grew up in Poland before becoming an American citizen, helped the boys by contacting friends and getting in touch with schools that could use the supplies. In all, the three transported 281 lbs. of supplies to Poland.
They visited schools within 50 miles of the Ukraine border and saw many of the supplies delivered to kids in need.
