WELCOME BACK!! I am so excited to welcome our students, staff, and families to an exciting and engaging school year. I would like to start off by expressing my deepest gratitude for your feedback, suggestions and praises, as these are all taken into consideration as we plan for the school year.

This parent newsletter will provide you with school information each month. Our goal is to provide ongoing communication of school events, procedures and share school memories.

Our first day of school for Kindergarten through Fifth grade is on Tuesday, September 6th. The first day of school for our Prekindergarten students in on Wednesday, September 7th.

Please know that we are always look forward to hearing your ideas, and inquires. Our PTA helps to support many of our school wide events and we really encourage families to join our PTA. If you are interested in joining the PTA please reach out to Lido PTA president Aimee McNicholas at pta.lido@gmail.com and PreK PTA presidents Nicole Morales and Holly McDonnell at longbeachprekpta@gmail.com. This school year we will continue with Teachers College Reading and Writing curriculum. Each month I will share some of my favorite stories to help build literacy support. Please visit our Lido Learning Wave for a list of some of my favorite stories for this month.

Dismissal:

As a friendly reminder, please be sure to stand in the walker zone during dismissal. Students will not be allowed to walk to the parking lot area without an adult. We also ask that students are not taken off their line without notifying their teacher first for the safety of all students.

Visiting Lido:

Whether you are visiting our school, heading to the nurses office, or need to do an early pick-up, please be sure to go to our security in our main entrances and bring photo ID.

Bike Riding:

Many of our students ride their bikes to and from school. Please remind students to wear their helmets and to use the crosswalks when crossing the street for their safety.

On the first Friday of each month, we celebrate Spirit Day by wearing our Lido gear or Lido color (blue) to show our school pride. Please visit https://lidospiritwear.com/ to purchase your Lido gear!

Our students participate in our Social Emotional program Choose Love each week. This month we will focus on courage. Please visit https://chooselovemovement.org/ for additional information.
