A note from Mrs. Stewart
I'd just like to wish you all a very Happy Easter or Passover, whichever you recognize in your family. Enjoy this long weekend with family and friends.
Positivity Project (P2)
Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence
Next week we will highlight the P2 character trait, APPRECIATION OF BEAUTY AND EXCELLENCE.
This week we really focused our learning on growing our mindset to always be present when interacting with people and giving our full attention. Next week's character trait of appreciating beauty and excellence really goes along well with that idea. It's always a good idea to slow down, stop and smell the roses, or perhaps the Lilacs, as those will be blooming first!
This holiday weekend is a great opportunity for your family to be present and attentive to one another. If your family is spending some quality time together and enjoying the beauty and EGGcelence of early spring, please post pics to the Oakwood Elementary Brandon Facebook page. Include the hashtags #OEbeingpresent and/or #OEappreciationofbeauty, whichever applies best to your photo!
3rd Graders Getting excited about reading
These three guys explored the rooftop as a reward for winning the top spots in a comprehension competition in their reading group. Great work guys! Hard work and focus really does pay off.
PE News from Mr. Thompson
Before spring break students received all of the information about our annual Jump Rope for Heart event. This event is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of staying active and eating healthy to promote a life and healthy life! All of the money raised during this event goes to the American Heart Association, and allows our students to earn some cool prizes in the process! Our Jump Rope for Heart event will take place this week during scheduled P.E. times. All donations must be handed in to Mr. Thompson by Thursday April 18th, 2019. If you didn't get your donations in, please send them on Monday, April 22.
After our Jump Rope for Heart event wraps up, grades 3-5 will be doing their Spring Fitness Tests for the year which will take a few weeks to complete. Hopefully our students will show some great improvement from their Fall Fitness Scores. In the coming weeks, grades K-2 will begin to review some of the skills, games, and activities that we learned at the beginning of the year. Please remember to bring proper shoes and clothes every week when it is your day to come to P.E. Let’s have another great month at H.S.E. and as always, get out there and keep on moving! If there are any questions/concerns please contact Mr. Thompson at any time!
