Punk, Funk and Skate Punk
What is Punk?
Punk is a loud, fast moving and aggressive form of rock music. The fans of Punk rock are usually called Punks and classically wore tshirts, leather jackets, jeans and boots. Over the years the style and sound of this sub-genre may of changed a little, but the anger fuelled and anti-establishment based lyrics remain almost exactly the same.

What is Funk Rock?
Funk Rock is a genre that fuses funk and rock elements. It originated from the 50s/60s when bands such as the Upsetters started transitioning from 50s rock to 60s funk. The overall sound of the genre is usually defined by a beat of a bass guitar and/or drums in combination with an electric guitar. Famous Funk rock bands include the Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Skate Punk
Skate Punk, sometimes called Skate Rock originated from the west coast hardcore punk scene. It is named after its popularity with skateboarders and its association with the skateboarding culture. Skate Punk usually sounds aggressive and melodic.
