The end of the first quarter is upon us! Mark your calendars for parent-teacher conferences. All conferences will be held in-person.

Several schools are pre-scheduling conferences in an effort to accommodate wait times and due to the positive feedback we've received. Scheduling links will all be live within the week.

Gering Preschool

Half Day Classrooms

• Monday, October 24th from 3:30pm to 7:00pm
• Tuesday, October 25th from 3:30pm to 7:00pm
• Wednesday, October 26th from 8:00am to 4:00pm

Gering Junior High School

GJHS Conferences will NOT be pre-scheduled by appointment.

• Families with last names beginning in A-L are encouraged to attend Monday
• Families with last names beginning in M--Z are encouraged to attend Tuesday.

Gering High School

• Monday, October 24th from 4:00pm to 8:30pm

Please Note: We have a few teachers with classes at both GJHS and GHS (Mr. Boyd & Ms. Hauck). On Monday both will be available at GHS and Tuesday at GJHS.

At the September Board of Education meeting, board members voted to establish a Girls Wrestling Program at Gering High School beginning this season. After inquiries earlier this year, 15 girls expressed interest in the program. To support Bulldog Wrestling Head Coach, Jarred Berger, Gering Public Schools hired Mai Lee Olsen to serve as Assistant Coach for the program.

On Thursday, October 13th, Gering Public Schools, in collaboration with Scottsbluff Public Schools and Educational Service Unit #13, will participate in a community emergency response simulation. This is not a real event - only a simulation to assess readiness of Standard Response Protocols.

Emergency responders from the community will be on school and district campuses during the exercise.

If you or someone you know may be interested in joining our team as a substitute teacher, please encourage them to apply online or contact Central Office with any licensure questions (308.436.3125).

Gaining a Local Substitute Teacher Permit requires that you have completed at least 60 hours of college credit and fulfill the human relations course requirement.

Each month we will feature a simple safety tip where YOU - our parents and families - can partner to help us keep our schools, students and staff safe. This month we're highlighting the importance of accurate family contact information for our school teams. It's a simple step, but is essential in case school or district staff need to reach you.
