Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, March 19th, 2020
Dear Mill Valley Families,
We are so appreciative of your partnership and support during this challenging time. The school office will continue to receive and respond to email and phone communication. Note that the week of March 23rd is Spring Break. During the week of Spring Break, there are no work expectations for staff or students and the school office will be closed.
In our communication sent to elementary families on March 16th, we shared that “elementary staff will be creating schedules and connecting with parents/guardians to support facilitation of ongoing learning for students.”
Classroom teachers have been asked to connect with families two times per week via 10-minute phone conferences. The standardized questions we are asking include:
What things are going well?
Do you have the resources you need?
How can I help support?
Phone calls can be individualized based on teacher, student and family needs. If you do not wish to receive a second call during the same week, you are welcome to opt out during your first check-in. If you would prefer that your teacher call to talk with your child, that is okay, too! Our specialist teachers (art, music, phy ed) will also be available to check in with families over the duration of our time away.
If you feel your child would benefit from additional support or a personalized check-in from our support staff, we hope to accommodate this need. We have student services and general aide staff available. Please feel free to request this via email or during your weekly teacher check-ins.
We are also happy to connect with families. Please let us know if you or your children would like to receive a call from one of us in the days and weeks ahead. Send us an email with your name and contact information: robin.schrot@muskegonorway.org and allyce.harris@muskegonorway.org
If you have not checked us out on Facebook - please take a minute to like our Mill Valley Elementary Page - https://www.facebook.com/MillValleyElementary/ We are hoping to stay connected through this venue in the weeks ahead of us.
Although our MV Parent Weekly will be much shorter than usual, we will continue to send them weekly. That said, we do not want to duplicate information - it is very important that you open and read all district and school communication sent via Infinite Campus. COVID-19 specific information and letters are posted and available on the district and school websites.
Know that we are missing you and wish you and your family health and wellness.
Sincerely,
Robin Schrot & Allyce Harris
