What's Hatching in October?
Ronald L. Sodoma Elementary's Official School Newsletter
Greetings Albion Families,
Can anyone else believe it’s almost October?! We hope you know how grateful we are to have each and every one of you as an essential part of our school family.
Already, we've seen our students dive into learning with enthusiasm and determination. It's truly inspiring to witness their growth and potential, and we're excited about the bright futures they're building.
Please remember, education is not something that happens solely within the school walls. It's a partnership between home and school. Your involvement and collaboration are invaluable in shaping the educational journey of your child. We encourage you to stay engaged, attend school events, and reach out whenever you have questions or ideas to share.
As we navigate this new school year, please know that we're here to support your child's growth and development every step of the way. Together, we can make this academic year a remarkable one.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Angela Conway

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids
We are excited to announce that this year, we will begin to introduce and incorporate Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Happy Kids" into our curriculum and daily school life.
Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Happy Kids" is a powerful framework that empowers students with essential life skills, fostering personal growth and character development. We believe that these habits are not only valuable for their academic success but also for their overall well-being and happiness.
Here's a quick overview of the 7 Habits:
Be Proactive: Encourages students to take responsibility for their actions and choices, helping them develop a sense of control over their lives.
Begin with the End in Mind: Teaches students to set goals and have a clear vision of what they want to achieve, both academically and personally.
Put First Things First: Emphasizes prioritizing important tasks and managing time effectively.
Think Win-Win: Encourages a mindset of collaboration and seeking mutually beneficial solutions, promoting positive relationships.
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood: Promotes active listening and empathy, enhancing communication skills.
Synergize: Teaches the value of working together as a team, valuing diverse perspectives, and achieving more collectively.
Sharpen the Saw: Focuses on self-care and balance in life to maintain physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
More information will be provided to families throughout the school year as we introduce a new habit each month. Enjoy the overview video below (slightly robotic...but informational!)

Some Friendly Reminders About Dismissal.....
Important Information Regarding Pikmykid
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure our dismissal process continues to run as safe and smoothly as possible.
Just a few reminders that can assist our office staff during the dismissal process:
- Please make your pickup selection (car line or walk up line) on the Pikmykid app no later than 2:00pm. The app will not allow for changes after this time.
- If you selected the walker line or car line on the app and decide last minute you want to change the mode of pick up, this change cannot be honored after 2:00pm, because students are sorted by the mode you selected before being dismissed and are in separate parts of the building.
- Please be sure to delegate the appropriate pick-up person on the app or be prepared with the student's Pikmykid security number code.
- The office staff uses the app daily to determine what mode you have selected. If you initially requested multiple dates for a pickup selection and something changes, please be sure to adjust those dates on the app before 2:00pm.
- Only announce for the students that you are picking up that day, do not include students who were absent or who may have left early.
- If your child needs to be buckled into their car seat, we ask that you please assist them as quickly and safely as you can. This will help ease traffic congestion and help the line continue to flow.
- To keep the line of cars moving, please move forward to the next available space when it is safe to do so. Your child may not be released until you have moved up to the next available spot.
- If you select to use the "walker" option, please wait in your vehicle until 3:15pm. Do not congregate in the dismissal area once you have picked up your child(ren), as this will slow down the process for those waiting to pick up their child.
**Please do your best to stay with one pick-up mode (car line or walk up line) throughout the school year. The day-to-day consistency helps students feel comfortable and confident with where they are supposed to be during the dismissal process.**
