A WORD FROM THE SUPERVISOR
Parents, we are down to our last month for this school year! The last day of school is Tuesday, May 23. Our summer camps, Super Summer Club (K-3rd grade) and Camp Extreme (4th-8th grades), will begin on Tuesday, May 30. Super Summer Club will be held at the Professional Development and Learning Center (PDLC). Camp Extreme will be at Briarwood Elementary, except for the last two weeks, during which they also will be at PDLC. Camps run Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-6 p.m. through Aug. 4. The registration fee is $60. You can register online or stop by our office to sign your child(ren) up for a fun filled summer. More information below.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to an overwhelming response so far, we must suspend active registrations for summer programs as of 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12. We WILL start a waiting list, so registrations after that time will be marked with dates and times. Applications will be accepted and processed on a first come, first served basis as we are able to hire additional staff.
Please be aware that due to Western Kentucky University ending May 12, there may be some staff changes the last two weeks of school. Remember to always have a photo ID available if needed. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our office. Below is some site-specific information for this month.
- Please be sure to send your children with appropriate clothes to play outside. You never know what this crazy Kentucky weather will be like!
- I have truly enjoyed getting to know each of your children this year. It’s hard to believe that summer time is almost here!
- I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer break. I look forward to seeing everyone back on Aug. 9!
As always, please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Ms. Amarah

20th Annual Stand for Children Day
BLOCKBUSTERS AT THE BALLPARK
The 2nd Annual Blockbusters at the Ballpark will feature a different “blockbuster” movie shown at the Bowling Green Ballpark (home of the Hot Rods) on two different Saturday nights, July 29 and Aug. 26, 2017. Rain date will be Sept. 30, 2017. There will be no admission fee for the events.
Children will have access to the playground area and carousel before the movie begins. The outfield will be available for playing Frisbee and tossing a football around before the movie. The concession stands will be open for families to purchase food. People will have their choice of seating; they may bring a blanket to sit on in the outfield or sit in the box seats around the ballpark.
Blockbusters at the Ballpark is Community Education’s major fundraiser to support programs that benefit our community. Such programs include before- and after-school programs that provide child care to about 1,000 local children of working parents; Teen Angel, which provides Christmas assistance to needy teenagers in school; enrichment opportunities for adults; summer activities for children, and much, much more.
Current sponsors include Graves Gilbert Clinic, American Legion Post #23, CoreTech LLC, US Bank, Charles M. Moore Insurance, English Lucas Priest & Owsley LLP, Franklin Bank & Trust, Independence Bank, Kerrick Bachert PSC, 823 Enterprises, and Bowling Green Junior Woman's Club.
If you or your business would like to sponsor this event, contact Joshua Smith at jsmith@commed.us.
13th Annual Summer Activities Fair Recap
Community Education, Bowling Green High School Youth Services Center and Natcher Elementary Family Resource Center sponsored the 13th annual Summer Activities Fair on the evening of Tuesday, April 25 on the concourse of the Bowling Green Ballpark, home of the Hot Rods. The purpose of the fair is to provide parents with children in grades k-12 a one-stop shop opportunity for information on the activities, camps, or other programs offered during the summer in our community.
More than 350 attended this year's fair with more than 35 vendors present. The fair included information on a wide variety of summer activity opportunities, including academics, art, aviation, cooking, dance, music, police, reading, various sports, volunteer opportunities and much, much more.
With this year’s event being held at Bowling Green Ballpark, those visiting the fair had the opportunity to receive free admission to that night’s Bowling Green Hot Rods baseball game.
