CSD Top 3
Your monthly school district newsletter
Thursday, Nov. 2
Dear Canby Families,
Happy November! I hope you enjoy this month’s CSD Top 3, those three things we think you’d like to know, plus the school lunch menus.
Coin drive kicks off!
Next week, the Canby School District Coin & Toy Drive will begin and will run through Dec. 8. During this event, we will collect spare change and new unwrapped toys at each school to support the Kiwanis Canby Community Food & Toy Drive, an event that has been serving Canby families for more than 60 years. Last year, through our coin drive, we were able to donate $4,074.15. We are excited to participate again! Applications for assistance are available at each school.
Budget Committee members needed
Canby School District’s Budget Committee has three positions open. Any registered voter residing in the Canby School District can run as long as they are not an officer, agent, or employee of the district. Applications are due by Nov. 8 to the superintendent’s office, Attn: Kamela Davis, or by emailing kamela.davis@canby.k12.or.us. The applications will go before the school board Nov. 13, and those selected will take on three-year terms, joining current budget committee members Jon Iverson, Dan Miner, Jr., Adrianne Carlson, and Janaleen Williams. Those interested in applying should visit the Budget Committee Information web page.
Winter weather prep
Please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert.
As the temperatures begin getting colder, it’s almost time to start preparing for winter weather and the snow bus routes, school delays, or closures that can come along with it.
When inclement weather strikes, the district will make decisions about school as early as possible – sometimes even the night before, but our goal is by no later than about 5:45 a.m. on the day of the weather event. The message will go out via FlashAlert and will then be reported on most news websites and TV stations.
To make sure you’re set to receive the information, again, please subscribe to Canby School District on FlashAlert. Now is also a good time to update your text preferences online by listing your phone number.
For more information, please see our inclement weather page.
What's for lunch?
Check out the new monthly meal menus here. If you have not applied for free school meals, do so today either online or using a paper application.
Please note that menus are subject to change.
Community Bulletin Board
For information on upcoming events and opportunities for children and families, take a look at the flyers posted on our Community Bulletin Board. Note that many flyers are submitted from outside Canby School District, and Canby School District does not necessarily sponsor or endorse them.
How do we create a vibrant and engaged learning community dedicated to growth for all?
