Board Report - September 2023
Director of Operations
MAINTENANCE / GROUNDS / TRANSPORTATION
- All of the buses were serviced during the summer break and were ready for full time use.
- Exterior doors are remaining a top priority and these are being check in each building weekly or even daily. The maintenance department knows the importance of these door sweeps and are quick to respond when work orders are placed.
- The final inspection from the warranty portion of Duralast has occurred. A walking path material will be installed on the gym and cafeteria for HVAC maintenance.
- The transportation department trained several additional coaches to drive the Ultracoach bus to out of town games.
- Several HVAC units are struggling to keep our buildings cool during this heatwave. Mike Hayes and Jim Currin have been on every roof and in every building to have all the systems running and ready for the staff and students.
- Chance Roberts donated his time and skid steer to remove the south fence and the ramps from the skate park so this area can be used for parking. Robert and David removed the grass from the cracks in the pavement and blew the surface off to make this the parking area and the basketball court look a lot better and usable.
TECHNOLOGY
All new staff members have received their technology devices and our tech staff is staying busy with beginning of the year work orders. They have closed around 150 tech tickets in the past three weeks (mostly in reference to account logins, new phones, and connecting to printers).
Daniel and Mike repaired the scoreboard marquee issues and reconfigured the High School digital sign.
Daniel is working on a Point-to-Point connection for the Finley Oates sign.
100% of student Chromebooks are ready for service. 100 new Chromebooks have been setup for the LH Rather campus. Throughout the district, other student Chromebooks are being repaired based on damage the librarians discovered while checking each cart at the end of the school year.
The new copiers have been installed, Daniel is finishing up the programming of the software with the vendor, and implementing new features.
Carlito is teaching high school students how to repair Chromebooks. He visits their class 2-3 times a week to train and check on resources/parts.
A Virtual Camera Server has been installed and in process of being setup with the demo licensing for all the campus cameras to see if this will meet our needs for surveillance, storage, and retrieval. The new video storage array arrived, has been setup, and is currently saving camera data.
Mrs. Avery instructed 2nd and 3rd grade students on proper Chromebook use. She also helped Kinder teachers with iPad management using Securly.
