Inspired Learning Day
We are well underway with our Inspired Learning Day planning and have some amazing sessions that are coming to life!
Students - Is there a session that you would like to see for the upcoming Inspired Learning Day? Are you interested in running a session? If so, please complete THIS FORM by Wednesday, February 16th! We encourage you to think of a community partner that can assist with running the session as well. If you need help with this, please see Mrs. Miklavic in room B139.
In addition to student-run sessions, we are also still seeking community partners that are willing to be a part of our day. If you are interested in joining us at Nipmuc to share your expertise or are willing to host students at your place of employment, please let us know. You can find a list of potential sessions and/or sign up to host a session here. Sessions can be scheduled as 1/4 day, ½ day, or a full day. If you are interested in learning more before you sign up, please reach out to Leigh-ann Miklavic at lmiklavic@mursd.org.
We are excited to share our sessions with students after February vacation- stay tuned!

This Week's Nipmuc Athletic Schedule
Math Acceleration Academy - February Vacation
We are excited to announce that MURSD has received a grant to host a Math Acceleration Academy over both February and April vacations. This week-long academy is an academic program designed to accelerate student learning through hands-on, project-based lessons. The February academy is designed to support students in grades 5-10 in advancing their understanding of mathematics concepts learned over the course of the last two years. Our hope is that students will not only get the support they need but will also build confidence around the mathematical skills and concepts that will support their success in the classroom.
Based on a range of data sources as well as recommendations from their current math teachers, students who could benefit from the academy were identified and families were recently contacted. Eligible students must be willing to commit to attending the academy for the entire week (Tuesday, February 22 - Friday, February 25 from 7:30am - 1:15pm each day). The academy will be run by MURSD faculty and staff.
If you believe that your child may be eligible for the academy or are interested in learning more, please contact Amy Gilchrist (agilchrist@mursd.org), math educator and department chair at Nipmuc, or Liz Kadra (ekadra@mursd.org), math educator at Miscoe.
Supporting the Mental Health of Our Students: An Update from Nipmuc's Return Support Services (RSS) Staff
Do you know what steps you can take if your child is going through a crisis? Are you, or your family, able to recognize early signs of a crisis? Do you feel uncertain in making decisions for your child during a crisis? These are all valuable questions parents/guardians may wonder when they observe a change within their child. Please know you are not alone in being uncertain and we are able to provide you with the resources you need to feel confident in times of high stress.
Our affiliation with Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition (BRYT) services provides us with free parent support resources to discuss mental health crisis services. They provided us with a recording of their live session titled, "All the Questions You've Ever Wanted to Ask about Crisis Services". You can find that link here. Please take a look at this resource as it may answer questions you did not know you had and will supply you with confidence and knowledge when/if your child is in crisis.
Please reach out to the school counseling office or Ms. Dailey edailey@mursd.org & Ms. Robbins nrobbins@mursd.org from Return Support Services (RSS) for more information. We look forward to working with you!
