Getting a Global Education
Students have been focusing on their global regions of study for the past month. Kindergarten students have focused on North America and have learned about the United States, Canada, and Jamaica. First grade students have focused on South America and have learned about Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador. Second grade has focused on Europe and has learned about Ireland, Italy, and Germany. Third grade students have focused on Africa and have learned about South Sudan, Egypt, and South Africa. Fourth grade students have focused on Asia and have learned about China, Russia, India, and Israel. Fifth grade students have learned about Australia/Oceania and have focused on Australia, New Zealand, and Vanuatu. Mrs. Lynch's class has focused on Antarctica and have learned about research stations, animals and landscape. We will be culminating our month of research and global learning with our Global Expo on Thursday, April 29 at 6pm on the Monday Morning Meet link in Google Classroom. The research projects that our 2nd-5th grade students have created this past month will be presented. We will meet students from Colombia and visit places around the world. Please come out to see what all of our students have learned and the wonderful research projects they have created! We look forward to seeing you then!

A Note From Mrs. Colin's Music Class
As spring has sprung, students have been listening to Mr. Vivaldi's "Spring" and "Summer" from his Four Season's work. They have listened for the dynamics of loud and quiet, the tempo for fast, medium or slow, the instruments they hear and the mood they feel when listening. Most interesting to the students was that PARENTS chose the career path and spouse for their children in 17th century Italy! As one third grader pointed out, "I prefer to choose my own!" Third graders have learned "Jamaican Farewell" by Harry Belefonte and will share a bit of it for Global Night. They love watching Mrs. Cole-Bailey dance to it as they play their shakers!
Now that more students have returned, recorder playing for 4th and 5th graders is improving.
It is most important to have all instrument kits and recorders returned to school at this time.
Thank you for your support of music in our school!
