First Day of School: Welcome Back (AGAIN)
This week we will have our First Day of School, First Stadium Rehearsal, and our first afternoon rehearsals. We've got a great start but a lot to get added and put into place this week to be on track for a VERY EARLY contest season. Make sure you are ready to go be reading through all information in this s'more so that you know what to expect!
We were able to meet some of you on meet the teacher night this past week, however, our most important meeting will be coming up in just a couple of weeks on August 18 when we have our first Booster meeting on August 18 where I will be going over lots of important information (meet the teacher would not have been long enough for this), you'll have the opportunity to meet our board, find out where you fit in to volunteer while the students finish rehearsal for our parent performance that will conclude the evening at Mustang Stadium!
SCHOOL DROP OFF
The side door to the bandhall that you have used for summer band WILL NOT BE OPEN for school days. DO NOT stop to unload on the side of the school, ALL students being dropped off MUST be dropped off in the back of the school by the gyms. The only exception to this will be A Days that we are starting on the field early. On these days, you will need to arrive between 6:30 AM- 6:45 AM and park in the front of the school to drop off students. If you arrive after 6:45 AM, the side door will be locked and students will need to be dropped off at the back of the school. The best thing to do is make sure that you have your instrument home with you the night prior and not need to go into the bandhall prior to rehearsal. We need to minimize bandhall traffic on all A days and just start on the turf field.
Last Day of Band Camp & WEEK 1 of School
Monday, AUG 7
7:30 AM- Noon. We are adjusting this schedule and will finish at the lunch break.

Tuesday, AUG 8 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL (B Day)
Tuesdays should be your primary tutorial day. A huge benefit and life skill you learn being in band is learning how to manage your time. Be sure that you are attending tutorials on days we do not have rehearsals and managing your time appropriately. Students will not be excused from any tardy to practice on Monday/ Thursday unless teacher does not have Tuesday or Wednesday tutorials; plan accordingly. The teacher will need to e-mail directors directly with this information. Be proactive to attend tutorials early in the semester and complete all work ON TIME. Staying on top of your work will ensure your success in your classes, DO NOT HAVE LATE OR MISSING ASSIGNMENTS!
6:15 PM- 9:15 PM FIRST STADIUM REHEARSAL @ Williams Stadium
Students will need to have transportation to and from Williams stadium, please make sure to make these arrangements ahead of time. If you need help finding a ride, please utilize the Parent Band App. Students should wear their summer uniform and marching shoes and socks at this rehearsal. This helps get used to what those shoes feel like on the turf. Students receive a major grade for all stadium rehearsals, so make sure you are early with the correct uniform and equipment to receive full credit.
Wednesday, AUG 9
A1 Band starts on turf; you can come to school dressed for practice, but will need to have school clothes to change into if you aren't in dress code.
THERE IS NO AFTER SCHOOL REHEARSAL, start making this your regular tutorial day. Go introduce yourself to your teachers and make sure they know that you are in band.

Eligibility
UIL Eligibility is complicated and very confusing to most people. With that said, there will likely be other teachers on campus who may not understand how this works because they don't deal with that regularly. We will work to provide you with the information that you need regarding eligibility as we go through the year. The first 3 week check will not affect any eligibility, however, the 6 week check will be the first check that will cause students to lose eligibility. Students need to make sure they are passing all classes at the 6 week grade check to ensure they aren't at risk of losing eligibility.
FALL BREAK
Most Spring activities are listed as well.
