From the Principal... Matt Clark
Happy New Year Thompson families! I hope everyone had a fun and restful break and your children were able to get back into (somewhat of) a routine this week. I realize that an already short week compounded with a snow day does not make for the smoothest of transitions, but as parents we have to roll with the punches.
I can say that when students were in school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday there was definitely a lot of energy and excitement throughout the building. It was great to have everyone back fresh off a two week break. That said, I recognize a lot of that excitement was in anticipation of a snow day today as that seemed to be the only thing students and staff wanted to talk about.
An item of note that I want to share with all of you are some interim shifts in administrative roles in the Main Office. One of our assistant principals, Michelle Dague is taking a medical leave for the next few months. We look forward to her return in April. In her absence, our administrative structure and responsibilities will be as follows:
Matt Clark-Principal matthew.clark@d303.org
Sarah Frankiewicz-Assistant Principal (8th Grade, Teams 6-2 & 6-4) sarah.frankiewicz@d303.org
Danielle Moeller-Interim Assistant Principal (7th Grade, Teams 6-1 & 6-3) danielle.moeller@d303.org
Sam Pasholk-Student Support Coordinator/Dean (8th Grade, Teams 6-2 & 6-4) samuel.pasholk@d303.org
Maureen Logsdon-Interim Student Support Coordinator/Dean (7th Grade, Teams 6-1 & 6-3) maureen.logsdon@d303.org
Maureen’s assigned role in the building is as a Student Service Specialist (SSS). Her SSS role will be filled by Jill Carfagnini (jill.carfagnini@d303.org) until Michelle returns in April.
I hope everyone stays safe and warm this weekend! Enjoy the time with your families and Roll Thunder!

Future Freshman Focus
Dear Future Freshmen Families,
As a follow-up to the December 21 communication regarding the Future Freshmen event, we are sharing an update about the way families will engage with the academic, athletic, and student activity opportunities at our high schools.
With a focus on the course request process and course offerings, all future freshmen and their families will receive access to a virtual, pre-recorded presentation hosted by the administration from both high schools via email on January 17. The timing of this presentation will support the necessary collection of course request details from each future freshmen student in the meeting during the school day at their middle school on either January 24 or 25. These requests are independent of a student’s high school attendance assignment, but are critical to the staffing and course sectioning process. Information about videos explaining the freshmen level courses available in each department will be included in the email sent on January 17. Contact information for the Department Chairs will also be included in the communication in the event there is a question not answered through the presentation and videos.
Following the School Board’s decision for the attendance boundaries, each high school will announce an athletics and student activity event for their future freshmen. More information about this event will be shared in late February.
Sincerely,
Shanna Lewis | Principal, St. Charles North
Jim Richter | Principal, St. Charles East
