The Mustang Messenger
August 11, 2023
Greetings Mustang Families!
We had a great first week back to school. Students did a great job finding their classes and acclimating to the rotating block schedule. They participated in our PBIS Launch in their advisory classes on Thursday and Friday. We are looking forward to a successful school year!
Have a great weekend,
Catherine Nicholas, Ed.D.
Student ID cards
For safety purposes, student are required to wear their ID cards everyday and will be checked before entering campus at the start of the school day. ID cards are also scanned at the cafeteria where students can access one free breakfast/brunch and one free lunch meal each day. We also scan IDs to issue DASH points for our Positive Incentive Behaviors and Supports. Lost ID cards can be replaced for $5.00 at the ASB office.
School Photos
You may still order school photos from O'Conor Photography. Choose Rancho Pico to order your pictures.
Food services - Salad Bar
Per request from parents and students, our cafeteria offers a salad bar. There is a separate line available for side salad offerings. Students can also get a choice of entree along with their salad. The salad is intended to compliment their entrees.
Rancho Pico Launches PBIS
Students participated in our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) launch on yesterday and today. In team advisories, students heard a guest speaker, Lamarr Womble,
and played team bonding games. We are off to a great, positive school year!
Volunteers Needed
Hello Mustang Families,
The first volunteer opportunity of the school year is here!
The PE staff needs volunteers from Monday, August 14th through Thursday, August 17th to help with locker assignments and handing out PE clothes to students.
Please click the link below if you would like to volunteer your time. Signing up for more than one block, or multiple days is fine. Gender for volunteers does not matter on either side, students will not be changing.

Thank you!

PE Clothes
Parents, if you have not yet purchased PE clothes, please do so by Tuesday night 8/16! You can purchase them on the webstore.
If you prefer not to buy online, students can use cash, debit and credit cards, and checks (exact amount for checks made out to Rancho Pico ASB) at brunch or lunch.
PE Clothes Distribution!
PE lockers will be distributed next Monday and Tuesday. PE Clothes will be distributed Wednesday the 16th and Thursday the 17th during the students PE classes. The first day of dressing for PE is Friday 8/11. Make sure students bring their student ID. If Clothes have been ordered before Wednesday morning a PE clothes receipt is not needed as students will be on a list and marked off that way. Any clothes purchased Wednesday the 16th or later, students need to bring their PE clothes receipt to their PE teacher in order to receive their clothes. Students are encouraged to try on clothes to make sure they have the size they want. Once a student's name has been written on the PE clothes there is no exchanging them for a different size. If students want to exchange clothes to a different size they need to do so before their name is written on the clothes.
Many thanks to Pico PAC parents for helping pass out PE orders this week!
Drop Off and Pick Up
As you can see, there is a lot of traffic on Valencia Blvd. during drop off and pick up! Student safety is our number one priority. To help with a safe and efficient valet line, please pull all the way towards the stop sign before stopping. The parking lot is only for people who need to park and get out of their car for school business. It is not safe for students to cross from the parking lot.
Congratulations Rancho Pico Students!
Reagan Hambleton competed for Rancho Pico Jr. High in the Interscholastic Equestrian League 2022/23 season.
Rancho Pico recent graduate Yufei (Alice) Chen received the degree of Excellence from the National Speech & Debate Association Honor Society. Each new degree represents hours of learning, practice, and improvement by students.
Think Ahead Thursdays
Rancho Pico students are opportunity Ready!
Students are encouraged to wear a college shirt or a shirt that represents a future career goal on Thursdays and Rancho Pico spirit wear on Fridays.
