Mission Statement: EMPOWER LEARNERS

February 6-10
Greetings Staff,
Thank you for your active participation during our PLA (Personalized Learning in Action) day here at North Pole High School during our Building Day. After reading the submitted feedback forms it appears that everyone found the time to be beneficial. Kudos to the various staff that helped lead some of the sessions and thank you for taking time to become a learner and work collegially together to find valuable solutions and offer support to each other.
It's true to never say never! Who would've thought that our first ever Souper Bowl Challenge would've been a predictor for the greatest comeback in Super Bowl History? If you watched the game you witnessed a tied which went into overtime. Well guess what we had a tie as well between Jenn Sartin and Robyn Atkins as they tied in the Souper Bowl Challenge. Football had overtime and we had several delicious bowls of soup! Who needed a tiebreaker?

School Board Notes....
On January 17, 2017, the Fairbanks North Star Borough Board of Education proclaimed February 2017 Black History Month and encourages schools and teachers to honor it with performances, readings, guest speaker, displays, lessons, lectures, and cultural celebrations throughout the year.
Also the FNSBSD is partnering with the NAACP to host the Black History Month contest. The NAACP provides prizes and recognition for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each grade level category during an awards evening for parents, teachers, and students. The 2017 Black History Month Contest theme is "Game Changer" and it is encouraged that as many students, classrooms, and schools across our district recognize Black History Month by participating in this contest for all students, and celebrate academic, cultural, technological, and scientific achievements of African Americans. All submissions have to be delivered to District Office by the end of the day on February 23rd.
