#14(Week of October 29, 2023)
Principal's Note
Hawks' Weekly Update #14
Parents and Guardians,
We want to be prepared to have a fun-filled week in anticipation of Halloween and the aftermath. I hope the following information will allow us to enjoy some of the season's traditions and make our school a productive learning environment all week.
Parade
The students who wish to participate will have a parade on Tuesday through the hallways starting at 9:05 a.m. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay on campus in front of the classrooms until its conclusion at approximately 9:30 a.m.
Costumes
No weapons
No blood/gore
Costume must be school-appropriate
Masks can only be worn for the parade in the morning before school and again at lunch.
Candy
Please do not allow students to take candy to school. Many children will select candy instead of more nutritious breakfast/lunch items when their parents/guardians are not with them.
Sleep
While October 31 is a special night for many families, be mindful of how changing routines and sleep patterns can impact concentration and mood. Moderation, since Halloween falls on a school night, should be considered.
Thanks,
Pete Selleck
Principal Shadow Hills Elementary
Independent Study Contracts
If your student is going to be absent for an extended period, please make sure to request an Independent Study Contract from the office at least one week in advance. This will ensure that your child's teacher has ample time to prepare assignments, and your student can receive attendance credit during their absence.
