Mr. Posick's Friday email

Last Friday, our students, under the leadership of Mrs. Niemczyk and Miss Kohnert, ran a carnival to raise funds for new Intermediate School playground equipment. It was a booming success! I can't tell you how proud I am to see the way our students interacted with the Primary School students and their families. Please check out some pictures below so you can see the fun we had.

Over the last two weeks, our students have been taking the Forward Exam, a state test that is one measure of the learning of our students, staff, school, and district. The students and staff were respectful of each other and the testing environment and process. Although we won't get the results for some time, I'm looking forward to seeing our results.

On a related note, if you are looking for a chance to volunteer, we could use some family members to help proctor the make ups for the Forward Exam. Please contact me if you might be available next week. Thanks for your consideration!

The Merton Community School District has a kickball team, made up of Merton staff, plays against area schools just for some fun and excitement. On Monday, May 2nd, our kickball team will be playing against community members as a way to raise donations for local families. Please see this link to see how you can join us to celebrate a great cause.

On Monday, 5th graders joined the school board meeting to showcase their "Poetry Break" for those in attendance. The kids did a great job sharing poems that they had memorized, complete with gestures. If you have a chance, please check out the link to the board meeting so that you can see them in action. I know that it's hard to believe, but our 8th grade graduation isn't far away. Our 8th graders will be graduating on Thursday, June 9th. At this time, I'm looking for interested families to help out to prepare for the day.

8th grade families- Please email me if you are interested in being a part of the decorating committee. Our first meeting date is Monday, May 9th at 7:00 in the library.

7th grade families- Please email me if you are interested in being a part of the reception committee. I'll be setting up a meeting date after I have a list of names.
