From Ferson Creek
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. McKnight's father earlier this week. Please keep Mrs. McKnight and her family in your thoughts as she navigates this time of grief and loss. Mrs. McKnight will be spending some time away from the office in the wake of her father's passing.
During Mrs. McKnight's absence, Denise Liechty will be supporting Ferson Creek as acting administrator. Mrs. Liechty is familiar with the Ferson Creek students, staff, routines and procedures from her time serving the building in August. Mrs. Liechty can be contacted at Denise.Liechty@d303.org.
Thank you for your continued support of the Ferson Creek community.
Pre-Arranged Absence
If you have a planned absence, please be sure to use our pre-arranged absence form. This allows our classroom teachers and office to be prepared for your absence. Please reach out to Audrey Hughes with any questions.

Spirit Mornings
INK in October
Index cards are located in the front entryway in a bucket by the AT math office. All you have to do is use one of the word prompts, then draw whatever comes to your mind on an index card in pen or sharpie (you can plan in pencil first.) Then put cards in the submission box and Mrs. Kruse will hang them up! Students are welcome to take the cards home and bring them back upon completion.
Everything, including word prompts and directions, can be found near the AT math office or check out these info slides.
Can't wait to see what you make!
Halloween at Ferson Creek
Halloween is just around the corner! We will celebrate Halloween on Tuesday, October 31st. This year, we will hold our Halloween parade outside at 1:45 pm. Parents are welcome to view the parade from the blacktop area behind the school. In the event of inclement weather, the parade will move to the gym. Classroom celebrations will take place after the parade. While wearing costumes is optional, there are a few guidelines:
- Props representing weapons are not allowed.
- Students should not wear costumes which promote gore, violence, or inappropriate imagery.
- No costume face coverings or masks can be worn.
October 31st – Classroom Celebrations
Pre-arranged volunteers should plan to sign in and have their license scanned, and get their visitor’s badges just prior to the start of the classroom celebrations. Our celebrations are scheduled from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM. Our parties will not include food or drinks, other than water. This is also true for any gift or party bags that are being sent home. Please help us with this by not sending in any food items, including candy, to be distributed to students.
Veterans Day Assembly
We are excited for our upcoming Veterans Day assembly. This year we will be celebrating Veterans Day on November 10th! Veterans Day is a day set aside to honor American veterans of all wars. Many of us know or have known men and women in our families or friends who have served in the armed forces to defend our country. This year we would like to take time to honor these individuals by acknowledging their time served and to honor them at an assembly beginning at 9:00 am on that day.
If there is a veteran that you would like to recognize by having them included in our Veterans Day video, please email our LRC director Renee Ignoffo at sharon.ignoffo@d303.org. In your email, please include your child's name, the veteran's name, the veteran's relation to your child, a picture of the veteran, and branch of the military. Please send all pictures to Mrs. Ignoffo no later than Monday, October 30th.
If your child has someone in your family, or a friend of your family, who they would like to invite to attend our assembly please rsvp to Audrey Hughes at audrey.hughes@d303.org, no later than Friday, November 3rd so that we can plan accordingly.

Big Hearts of Fox Valley
For the 10th year in a row, D303 is again partnering with Big Hearts of Fox Valley, which supports families in need during the holiday season. Big Hearts of Fox Valley Holiday Giving Program's purpose is to provide holiday gifts for D303 students and their younger siblings whose families face significant financial hardship. Through Big Hearts, members of the D303 community anonymously shop for wish list items. D303 social workers will review applicants. If you are struggling and facing significant financial hardship and would like assistance providing holiday gifts to your children, click here. If you would like to help Big Hearts by "adopting" a child this Holiday season, click here. You can visit the Big Hearts of Fox Valley website for more information.
Parent Education Offerings
District 303 is pleased to present its lineup of Parent Education sessions for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Parent Education series (formerly Parent University) includes informational meetings and workshops intended to empower parents and guardians to support their children’s academic, social and emotional needs. Become informed on specialized topics, engage in two-way dialogue with speakers and fellow parents, and become a support resource for others.
Sessions for this school year will focus on bullying prevention, addressing anxiety, and include film screenings and discussions about the impact of screen time and cultural awareness. The schedule also includes college preparation workshops hosted by our high schools. Sessions were selected based in part on feedback from District 303 parents.
Explore the full lineup of sessions here. Signup forms for each session will be made available closer to the session dates. New this year, you can also register for Parent Education notifications and receive alerts as new information and session recaps become available.
