We Are Called
March 25, 2022
From Mrs. Rhodes
I often wonder if March Madness in Kansas is referring to the weather! I hope that everyone had a great spring break and are ready to finish the 4th quarter strong. We went from snow days before spring break to several rainy days. How fast it all turned green and looks like spring. Things get busy during this time of year and we have a lot of work left to do at school, so help your students stay focused and motivated.
We are almost half way through Lent as well. This Sunday we hear the Gospel about the prodigal son. This is great timing as the students will be going to confession next week on the 29th. The parable teaches us that God's great mercy is bigger than any sin. At the same time, if you look at it from the practical way the world would have us do it, it isn't fair that the son who wasted so much is received back with a celebration. The Word Among Us meditation for the day explains the illogical part of this as, "But that's the point of the parable. God's love and mercy toward us is so extravagant that we have a hard time wrapping our heads around it. We live in a world run by the logic of conditional love and cautious acceptance. But God uses the logic of divine love, not human 'justice,' The logic of divine love tells you that you have a heavenly Father who looks upon you with mercy, not judgment." I pray that the students understand this at reconciliation and that their forgiveness fells like a hug full of love.
We are Called!

Scout News
Pack 3418 had 3 Sacred Heart boys cross over next on 2/26/22 from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. "Crossing over" includes a bridging ceremony where the cub scouts cross the bridge from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. It is the culmination of their cub scouting career and a great accomplishment.
Counselor's Corner
God wants us to tune our ears to the messages He sends us through our minds and bodies. My job is to encourage students to become aware of their stress and start to name it in order to start taming it. But stress and worry isn't all bad. It can be helpful and keep us safe if we act on it in conjunction with the Holy Spirit. In this way, it can act as a caution signal.
If you are wondering if your child's worry is creeping into more concerning anxiety or if you are interested in learning how you can help your child prepare for the unknown ahead, check out the links below...

Help your student take note of how he or she feels after initiating a kind deed. Chances are good that he or she feels as good (or better than) the recipient of the kindness.

Brown Bottle Class Projects are Back!!
We're so excited to include the SHOJ Classroom Projects for this year's Brown Bottle Dinner and Auction, which will be held on Saturday April 30th! We've come up with some fun classroom projects that will be available for purchase or bidding on during the silent auction but we need your help! Beth Menghini and Megan Ubben are graciously leading the efforts and have come up with some great ideas. We're trying to take as much off of the teachers as possible, so they are looking for 1 parent per classroom to help with these projects! (No art degrees are necessary!) We prayerfully ask that you select an item(s) that you’d like to purchase and donate. No time to shop?...there is a link imbedded in the sign up genius where you can make a cash donation and we’ll do the shopping for you! Your child(ren) can bring in their item(s) anytime between now and April 1st and drop them by the office or give them to their teacher!
