Quitman ISD Fall Update

Dear Parents and Community Members,

Our students have been busy these past months working hard in classrooms, ballfields, courts, show arenas, and on stages. Please take a few moments to visit Quitman ISD's Facebook site, scroll through it, and look at all the accomplishments and accolades our Bulldogs have completed in this first semester. Our students and staff are excellent.

As we return from the break, I want to encourage all our bulldog parents, guardians, and community members to get involved with our school. We have many great ways for you to be involved, including booster clubs, parent-teacher organizations, volunteer programs, and many parent and family engagement nights. We are truly blessed to be in Quitman, TX, where our values and traditions can grow and support our students.

Quitman Independent School District is committed to the safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. To meet this commitment, the QISD Board of Trustees approved Quitman ISD to begin a Guardian Program. Starting January 3rd, 2024, QISD will have armed staff, two QISD Security Officers, and two School Resource Officers on instructional campuses. The Quitman Independent Board of Trustees meets on the second Monday of each month. This public meeting at 6:00 pm at 600 N Winnsboro Street is open for all parents/guardians and community members. Here are the updates and actions since September 2023.

• Completed a QISD Facilities Study
• Entered into an agreement with the Andrews Center to provide additional mental health supports
• Approved the District Emergency Operation Plan
• Approved the purchase of 42 SMART TVs to update instructional capacity in classrooms
• Approved the purchase of 100 Chromebooks for District 1 to 1 initiative
• Approved the purchase of new mulch for the Elementary Playgrounds
• Approved the purchase of HVAC units to replace out-of-date equipment
• Approved the purchase of a new bus
• Approved new District Goals

Our students and teachers have done an amazing job this past school year. QISD outperformed the State and Region 7 in almost all subjects.
