Week of September 18th
Happy Friday South Community! This week we had our first early release of the year and we also had Back to School Night last night. It was so great to see so many families at the South School. As a reminder, if you were unable to attend please feel free to reach out to any teachers via email for more information. We look forward to seeing you at our next school-sponsored event, Parent-Teacher conferences, on Thursday, October 19th. Sign ups will be open to families on October 5th at 4pm.
Save the Date: Walk to School - Wednesday, October 4th
The South School will be holding our Fall Walk to School day on Wednesday, October 4th. We will be holding a couple more of these days this year! Please read the information below for the event details and be sure to dress your student appropriately for the weather. We will meet at the corner of Park & Ash St (Everbright Dental) from 8:00-8:10 AM. South School Staff will be at the drop off spot to assemble the group. We will begin walking at 8:10 AM. Students must be accompanied by an adult, guardian or your whole family! Physical activity is a great way to start the day! We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, October 4th! This event is for students and families only, please leave four legged friends at home for this event! Thanks!!

Introducing - Mrs. Chafkin
I am excited to join the South School community as an additional Reading Specialist. I grew up in Canton and now live in Norfolk with my husband and our three children. I was a classroom teacher for 11 years and changed roles when our kids were born. Outside of school we have a busy house and I love the Red Sox, Bruins, the beach, traveling, music and food. I'm looking forward to a great year with staff and students!
Introducing - Mrs. Sirk-Nguyen
My name is Amanda Sirk-Nguyen and I am so excited to be a part of the Kindergarten team here at South Elementary School! I recently got married to my husband in April and we bought our first home together! I love iced coffee, running, playing tennis and baking! I am looking forward to a wonderful year at South Elementary!

Make sure your Student is part of their Grade Level's Friendship Directory!
At the beginning of the school year, a form went home to families, in the PTO packet, with information about their grade level's Friendship Directory. If you have already completed the form and returned it to your student's teacher there is nothing more for you to do. But, if you haven't and would like for your student to be included, click on this link and complete the form: https://forms.gle/5o1Cw54fs5hQKTyw6. This online form will close on OCTOBER 1.
This is a great way to connect with other families, schedule meet-ups and distribute party invites!
