The Weekly Howl

There are many activities in the next two weeks before we break for Christmas Recess. This week we will have two of our traditional Advent/ Christmas activities occurring.

Tomorrow the students will be having their annual visit to the Thrift Shop so they can Christmas Shop for their loved ones. Please make sure the students have money in a sealed envelop with the total amount and all the members of the family they need to shop for. It really helps with the younger students. Thank you.

Friday is the FSA's annual Breakfast with Santa! Check out the times for each grade below. Parents and siblings are also welcome to visit and see Santa!!!

The PreK had a presentation with the Coastal Discovery Museum to learn more about their horseshoe crabs. They also worked with shapes and built Christmas trees.

Kindergarten students participated in the Musical Explorers concert in Savannah Monday morning. This semester the class has studied the genres of soul, country, and music from Mali. At the concert, they were able to watch the artists they studied perform.

The Third Graders worked in teams to figure out irregular plural nouns using only their discussion group and a dictionary!

4th Grade was busy last week on their Saint Tour, building a working circuit, and even enjoying some hot chocolate!

Last week the fifth graders created keynote presentations on animals. They also created presentations on famous inventors.

Father Gregory was the Celebrant for the School Mass this week. He also was able to tour the school and talk to the children about Jamaica and his organization, Mustard Seed.

Cinda Seamon from the fire department visited the students this Friday to talk a little about fire safety during the holidays. She also dropped off a gift for all the students!

Well it is time to start planning for A Night at the Disco!!! This year the FSA's Gala is on March 23rd, 2019 and we are working now in getting sponsors and now donations!

School Donation Drive - 100% Participation

We need your help. This year for the gala we are asking that each family contribute at least one item for the silent auction for the Gala. We are now accepting donations. Once the school gets 75% family participation the students will receive a treat at lunch. Once we reach 88% we will have the Kona Ice truck visit all the students for a Kona Ice. When we reach 100% participation the students (and teachers) will be awarded an afternoon off with Mr. Pope and Mrs. McGlynn hosting a movie matinee with fresh popped popcorn in the gym!!! Students can even bring sleeping bags if they want to! Progress for the Gala Donation Drive can be seen at the bulletin board outside the school office.

Donations will be accepted at the front office. If you have any questions about what to donate or need to contact someone from the Gala committee feel free to email gala@sfcshhi.com.

Ticket sales will begin soon. Keep an eye out for that information which will be communicated soon.

ACT college readiness benchmarks indicate that 95% of the JPII Class of 2018 are prepared for their college English courses compared with only 42% of students who attend schools in the state. Overall, nearly half of our graduates have been deemed college ready by ACT compared to 14% of the students in South Carolina.

Principal Mr. Walt Dupre will be visiting St. Francis Catholic School Tuesday, December 11th at 3:00pm in School Library. Come and learn more about the offerings of JPII Catholic School.
