8th GRADE COUNTDOWN TO GRADUATION - PARENT SURVEY
REMINDER - Today is the last day to submit your response! This will be an agenda item at Wednesday's PTO Meeting. The PTO is proposing a "Countdown to Graduation" to make sure the Class of 2021's final year at OGS is still special and ends strong. We know the 8th graders are getting excited for their transition to LHS, but they also want to enjoy every last bit of their time at OGS. We would love your input and creative ideas. Please complete this brief survey by the end of the day today, March 1st. If you have any questions, please contact Julie Kovach and Laura Reutzel at pto@ogschool.org.

Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
March 1st starts the beginning of Women’s History Month. This national celebration of women began in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 stating that there would be a “Women’s History Week” beginning on March 7, 1982. In 1987 Congress passed the first “Women’s History Month” but it wasn’t until 1994 that “Women’s History Month” became an annual celebration. There were many proclamations that needed to be passed to recognize the specific accomplishments women have made over the course of American history. Over the last 27 years, Women’s History Month has continued to showcase the many accomplishments of women in history. For more information about this month, click here: https://womenshistorymonth.gov/
While there are many women to celebrate, here are few to learn more about:
Clara Barton, Founded the American Red Cross
Marguerite Higgins, Reporter and War correspondent for WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War
Muriel F. Siebert, First woman to head a firm traded on NY Stock Exchange
Mercy Otis Warren, Writer and poet during the American Revolution
This is your friendly reminder to take the 5Essentials Survey. The results are very important to future planning for OGS! The state's goal for families is only 20%, but we know we can do better than that. Thank you for your participation!
