Principal's Message
BELONG ~ BELIEVE ~ ACHIEVE
Hello Wildcat Students, Staff, and Families!
We have rain scheduled everyday this week. Please make sure your student is prepared. We have the MPR, library and a few teacher's classrooms open for students, however some students will be sitting in the covered area for lunches. Thank you in advance for making sure your student is prepared for the weather.
BONSALL EDUCATION FOUNDATION: SOS (Support Our Students) Fundraiser. Our amazing Bonsall Education Foundation is raising money to help our teachers and students. We are asking all parents to donate $25 per student for teacher grants to help buy supplies and project materials for our teachers to use with our amazing students! Please consider donating to Sullivan's SOS fund!
Message from our BEF Board Members:
The Bonsall Education Foundation is beginning its Support Our Students (SOS) campaign today through February 26th. 100% of your tax-deductible donation goes to the school site of your choice.
1. Go to www.bonsallschools.org or to the QR code on our flyer.
2. Select your school site.
3. Choose the amount to donate and receive your tax donation letter.
4. Each school is notified of the amount raised.
5. Teachers make requests for needed items in their classrooms and principal approves.
If every family contributes to this campaign, our classrooms have the needed enrichment materials that our students need.
Thank you!
BEF Board Members
Thank you from Sullivan and PTO for your participation with our Bundt Cake Fundraiser! They will be distributed next Monday 2/12 at the end of the day.
PARENTS: We have 2 surveys taking place for Sullivan:
1. Winter Climate survey: Feedback about Sullivan overall and the ability to express your wants and needs as I start to create our school-wide plan and budget with our school site council for next school year.
2. School Community Survey: We are currently in the process for applying for a grant which will allow Sullivan to offer different programs or specific assistance to our parents and community depending on the needs the survey presents. Please take the time to fill out our Community survey and give input on what you feel we could use to help improve our parent and student accessibility and support.

Winter School Climate Survey for Families and Students
Dear Parent(s) or Guardian(s):
We are looking for feedback to help improve your school experience! We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. Over the next several weeks, we will be asking for students in grades 3-12 to reflect on their school experience and on their own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online questionnaire they will be completing at school. The questionnaire shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete.
The questionnaire will ask students to self-reflect on Student Competency and Well-Being Measures (such as growth mindset and self-efficacy) and on Student Supports and Environment (such as school safety, sense of belonging, and school climate). The questions can be previewed here:
Students Grades 6-12: English here or in Spanish here.
We are asking that all of our students participate, as their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether. The responses to the individual questions will be completely confidential. If you would like your student to opt out of taking this questionnaire, please complete this Google Form by Sunday, 1/28.
In addition, we are asking that our parents/guardians respond to questions about their experiences and perceptions of their child’s school. Your participation is completely confidential and anonymous, which means that no one at your school will ever see your individual responses. Please take your time to give honest and thoughtful answers.
You may use a computer, tablet, or smartphone to access the questions.
Please click the following link and enter the access code for your child's school: The questionnaire will be open from 1/30-2/13.

23-24 SMS Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact.
I have attached our completed Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact. These documents are commitments from the school and parents in how we support our students at Sullivan Middle School. These documents also outline parent and school engagement in support of student achievement and how the school is providing parent support and opportunities to be involved. As we know the more support a student receives the higher success our students will achieve.
Thank you Wildcat Families for your help in creating our school Parent and Family Engagement Policy and Title 1 School Compact. We were able to meet with our School Site Council, English Learners Advisory Committee, PTO, and other parents who were interested during Coffee with the Principal to gather input and create these documents with guidance from our school community. We will review these documents at the beginning of each school year and gather input to ensure we are working together to continue to support our Wildcats.
Thank you again for your continued support and feedback! I appreciate YOU!

Important information from the California Department of Education.
BUSD Families,
The California Department of Education passed legislation this past July that all school districts must remind parents and legal guardians of all students in the Bonsall Unified School District of their responsibilities for keeping firearms out of the hands of children as required by California law. Please take a moment to review the memo below.

SECURED CAMPUS AND ENTRANCE INFORMATION
ATTENTION PARENTS!
We are excited to announce that we extended our safety and security for all staff and students by installing a fence around the front of our school! Visitors will be required to bring ID and check in at the Welcome Booth before anyone is permitted on campus.
Only emergency vehicles, buses, those with handicap placards, and those with other special placards have access to the upper lot, emergency lane closest to the front of our schools. You will need to show your placard to Campus Security.
This decision to enforce our existing parking lot plan aligns with the recommendations of our community safety partners and will increase our ability to maintain a safe and secure site:
- When dropping students off, please use the lower levels of the parking lot.
- When visiting either the middle or the high school office, please park in the lower levels, bring your ID to the Welcome booth, and check in with the appropriate staff.
We appreciate your partnership and support in our efforts to provide the highest levels of safety for our students
