March 12, 2021
A Note from Dr. Hooks
Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
Happy Friday! Please be mindful that “Daylight Saving Time” begins at 2:00am on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Clocks are moved forward one hour.
If you were not able to attend any of the Recovery Community Corps sessions, please find the PowerPoint attached, below. We will be hosting an additional family forum, as we formalize more of the details for the summer acceleration program. That date will be announced in an upcoming newsletter.
As we work to have a strong finish to SY20-21, our priority is planning for a successful summer where we address learning acceleration needs brought on by the pandemic and a SY21-22 where all students have the option to learn in person.
As we approach the final term, we want to minimize additional disruptions to this school year unlike any other, while acknowledging the interest of several families for more in-person programming this spring. The team is looking closely at possible options for inviting additional students to attend in-person or CARE classes. As previously noted, there are numerous limitations around cohort sizes, physical social distancing requirements, and staffing structures, as aligned to DC Health and DCPS guidance. But, as we develop creative solutions, we will share those with our families.
Please keep you and your loved ones safe. For resources and information about the District of Columbia Government’s coronavirus (COVID-19) response and recovery efforts, please visit coronavirus.dc.gov. Please visit dcpsreopenstrong.com or backtoschool.dc.gov for DCPS resources.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. Calvin Hooks, Principal
Hyde-Addison Elementary School
