St. Vrain Valley elementary schools and preschools are invited to participate in the District’s annual Thanksgiving Reading Challenge.

Participating schools will utilize the myOn reading program to record the number of minutes read by their students over Thanksgiving break.

We are very excited to announce that Longmont Estates Elementary will once again participate, with other schools in the district, in our Annual Food Drive. In the past we have collected close to 40,000 pounds of food district wide and we hope to exceed that number this year. LEE's annual food drive is December 1st-December 18th. All the food collected will benefit the Longmont OUR Center. There are many families in need in our area, and this food will benefit them. Please help out, if you can!!

Longmont Estates will be organizing its annual Giving Tree, a tradition that brings our community together. Throughout the month of December, we will have a tree in the entryway, decorated with anonymous ornaments. These ornaments represent the wishes of families within the LEE community.

If you are in need of assistance to provide gifts for children this holiday season, we invite you to visit our office and pick up a gift request form. Please rest assured that all information provided will be kept confidential. If you have children outside of the LEE community, whether older or younger, we welcome your requests for additional gift forms. Please return the completed forms to the front office by Friday, December 8th.

For those who would like to contribute to this heartwarming tradition, you (or your child with your permission) can select an ornament from the tree and purchase the items listed on it. We kindly request that all gifts be returned to our front office no later than NOON on Tuesday, December 19th. To make the process easier, we kindly ask that the gifts are wrapped and the ornament tag is securely taped to the outside of the package. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and we thank you for being a part of our Giving Tree tradition!

Please join us on December 2nd at 10:00am for our annual Ugly Sweater Run at Silver Creek High School. All ages and ability levels are welcome at our fun run. We even invite your four-legged family members. We will have food trucks, music, games and prizes!

To better serve families and to support a more timely student preschool placement, St. Vrain’s Department of Early Childhood Education is offering families the opportunity to complete the district’s online pre-registration process prior to the state’s Universal Preschool (UPK) application. Families that pre-register in December will receive a notification of their placement from St. Vrain Valley Schools by the end of January, 2024. Pre-registered families will receive ongoing support and communication from St. Vrain Valley Schools if they choose to navigate the UPK process.

As planning begins for the 2024-2025 school year, there are some important dates that are approaching that you need to put on your calendar:

• Kindergarten/1st-12th Grade Registration: December 1, 2023-December 15, 2023: Submit applications. December 1 through December 15 is the period in which applications for enrollment should be submitted to the requested school. *Please note: 5th grade students who are presently attending Longmont Estates under open enrollment are not guaranteed open enrollment in our feeder middle school (Westview Middle School). If you do not want to go to your neighborhood middle school, you will need to submit an online open enrollment form to the middle school you want to attend.*

To register for school, a new student must be:

• a resident of the District (proof of residency required) - if you are not a resident of our attendance area, please click here and refer to Open Enrollment
• between the ages of 5 and 18 years
• 5 years old on or before October 1, 2024 for Kindergarten or 6 years old on or before October 1, 2024 for First grade

The new student must have:

• A birth certificate
• Proof of address such as a utility bill
• Up-to-date immunization records or statement of exemption
• Evidence of a recent physical examination is requested for Preschool
• Name, address, and telephone number of last school attended

As part of Computer Science Education Week, St. Vrain PK-5 elementary families are invited to explore STEM at the Innovation Center’s Open House & STEM Night. The event will take place on Wednesday, December 6 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Innovation Center. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of educational offerings including coding, robotics, videography, design, aeronautics, cybersecurity, and much more. All activities are hands-on and planned and led by Innovation Center student designers and staff.
