New Family Orientation - 2/23/22
Did you arrive after our August orientation, or were you unable to attend? We want all of our new families and children to feel welcome at Oak Grove School. On Wednesday, February 23, 2022 from 6:00-7:00 PM in our Pat Patt Gym we will have a panel of students and PTO representatives available to answer any questions and to provide information about our school and community. If you would like to attend this parent only meeting, please RSVP through this link.
Band Interest Survey - Only for current 4th graders (incoming 5th graders)
As we begin our planning for the 22-23 school year, we would like to identify the number of students who plan on joining 5th grade band for the 22-23 school year. Please take a brief moment to express your level of interest by completing the survey below. Within the survey you will be able to ask any band specific questions. Thank you for your input and supporting our planning process for the coming year.
Athletics
Please be advised that when students attend events at other host schools or organizations (such as “away” games), they are required to align to the protocols and health mitigations set by those schools or organizations. Please be sure to communicate with your child's coaches if you have any questions.

Acquaintance or someone new - Offer a compliment or gesture, do something for someone else, smile.
Community - Look for volunteering opportunities, demonstrate gratitude, learn something new about your area.

PTO News
Feed My Starving Children
The PTO is so happy to be able to return to this long-standing tradition of Oak Grove Families volunteering at FMSC. Thank you to everyone who participated so far, and a special thanks to Brooke Schamber who organized the three events. Tonight is the final night of volunteering and we will share a collection of photos on Facebook tomorrow. If you have any photos you’d like to submit, please send them to pto@ogschool.org.
Lunch Pantry Permissions
As a reminder, make sure you register your student(s) for the Lunch Pantry. The Lunch Pantry is available in case a student forgets a lunch at home or something happens to a student’s Marla order. Lunch staff and volunteers cannot distribute food to students who are not signed up. Please click here if you need the Lunch Pantry Ingredient List. Refer back to last week’s OG News e-mail for your unique family login information to the Lunch Pantry permission database.
Band News
Beginning Band: We will be focusing on pages 10-11 in band. Students will have their next playing assessment next week during their lesson time. The focus is #42 “Skip to My Lou” on page 9. Key concepts are a new note and eighth rhythms as we expand our repertoire.
Musicians playing instruments such as clarinet or saxophone, please be sure your child has plenty of Rico (orange box) 2.5 reeds for their instruments. All brass students should have a bottle of valve oil or trombone slide lubricant. All these supplies can be found on the Music & Arts website under our preferred school supplies. We will also include links in our email this afternoon.
Concert/Symphonic Bands: Please be advised there’s a new lesson schedule posted on Classroom moving forward. We will be sending this new schedule out to families by the end of the day.
Families with musicians participating in Solo & Ensemble Festival should be aware that there will be a RevTrack link posted in the near future. That is our preferred payment option moving forward. Musicians performing solos, please remember the accompanist is to be paid separately. Reach to Mr. Jones or Mr. Frankowski if you have questions.
