KCSD & Me: Latest update
July 29, 2021
Dear KCSD community,
Our plan for the 2021-22 school year is to return to a regular school schedule with full-time, in-person learning five days a week. We had planned to do so without face coverings or other restrictions unless mandated otherwise by the state.
Today, Gov. Kate Brown directed the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education to create a rule to require masks indoors for K-12 schools statewide for the 2021-22 school year. Read her full statement HERE.
The district is receiving phone calls and emails, and we appreciate your input. However, we need to follow the law. Please continue to communicate your ideas, and let’s have a productive conversation about how best to handle the issues before us. If you would like to provide input to our board and administration, please send comments to: kcsd_communications@kcsd.k12.or.us.
We still have more than a month before school starts Sept. 7 and the situation and requirements could change. Let’s work together as a community to stay healthy and keep COVID-19 cases at a minimum.
Our goal is to provide the best education possible for students and staff while providing a safe environment to learn and work. We will update our families in mid-August with needed information on the upcoming school year. Thank you for your patience and support.
Sincerely,
Glen Szymoniak
Superintendent
