Welcome Back!

Greetings!

Parents / Guardians,

The first day of school is just a few days away! The teachers and I are so excited to welcome your students back on August 21, 2023. As you prepare for the 1st day of school, I wanted to remind you of a few things:

Make sure that your child and their teacher know how they will get home each day.

Make sure that you sign up for your teacher's Class Dojo to receive important updates from your teacher and the school.

Doors open at 7:05, and class begins at 7:35 and ends at 2:15. Car riders load first, and bus riders load second.

There is no cost for breakfast and lunch. It is free for all students in Mitchell County Schools.

Please be patient as we work to ensure that EVERY child gets on the right bus in the afternoon. Safety is our #1 priority, and each day will get better.

It is normal for students to show signs of anxiety during the first two weeks of school, so please allow them time to adjust to their new teachers, new school, and new friends. These adjustments are usually temporary, but should your child experience anxiety that lasts beyond two weeks; please contact the school.

Hello

I began my educational journey at Deyton Elementary as a classroom teacher and reading specialist. Throughout my career, I have served in various roles in Mitchell County. I am blessed to have the opportunity to return to Deyton Elementary as your newest principal.

Deyton Elementary is a special place with a fantastic faculty and staff doing great things. As a principal, I aim for our students to feel safe, loved, and valued. I believe students need strong relationships with their teachers and staff to succeed. Let's work together to ensure that students grow both academically and emotionally.

I value clear and informed communication. Please communicate with your child's teachers and me with any concerns you might have during the 2023-2024 school year.

DES Open House

We sincerely hope you can attend Deyton Elementary's Open House on August 17, 2023, from 4:00-6:00. DES Open House is designed to provide parents/guardians with a chance to meet their child's teacher, tour our school facilities and learn about involvement opportunities and programs.
