A Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Thank you for such a wonderful year of school! Your kids grew so much thanks to the Herculean efforts of our staff, your support from home (and at school), and because of the incredible kids you have!
I invite you to reflect on all of the successes and highlights from the year. There were many!
And goodbye to our 6th graders! What a special group of students this is! Today we got to honor them at our end of year assembly and at the end of the day all of our students lined the halls to clap them out. This is a really special tradition and such a heartwarming show of support for these young men and women who have spent the last 7 years of their lives at Eccles.
There is still more to read about below! Enjoy your summer and I look forward to seeing you when we return!
Sincerely,
Kelly

Summer Construction
Great news! More improvements are coming to our school this summer, many of which will provide additional safety for our students and staff. Some of the most significant work will not be the most noticeable. For example, we are receiving upgrades to the fire alarm system, new HVAC units for every classroom, paging and clocks, security cameras, security system, and access control for the front entrance to the school. Classrooms will see new technology including a mounted projector system, voice amplification, and more. Perhaps more noticeable will be the painting of the exterior of the building! Continued thanks to the voters who passed the 2020 construction bond for making this work possible!
This means that teachers and staff are saying goodbye to students on Thursday and then stuffing report cards and packing up their rooms on Friday. It also means that our office needs to move over to Ackerman for the summer to allow Eccles to become a construction site. We will hopefully get to start moving back into the office sometime in the middle of August. We do not expect teachers’ classrooms to be ready much before students return to school. This will add some complexity to returning to school this Fall, but it will be well worth it. We are happy for the changes!
Report Cards & Class Placements
Report cards will be prepared this Friday, and sent out early the following week. You should receive report cards via mail within 1-2 weeks after the last day of school.
We are working very hard to arrange classroom placements for the 23-24 school year. This includes teams working together and sharing what they’ve learned about their students this year; this includes our learning specialist, instructional specialist, behavior instructional assistant, ELD teacher, counselor and myself to ensure we have done our very best to build classroom communities that are balanced and able to meet the needs of the learners within each classroom.
Specific information about your student’s class placement will go out in mid-August to let you know when the assignments are finalized. Once they are available, you will be able to check your student’s class placement and teacher assignment by logging into ParentVue. At that time, you may simply log in and see which teacher your student has been assigned to for the 23-24 school year. You can prepare yourself for this by making sure that you have set up your ParentVue account and that you know how to log in. For more information, see the district's ParentVue Link or email our office at eccles-office@canby.k12.or.us.
2023-24 School Supplies
For the 2023-2024 school year, we ask families to partner with us to ensure we have school supplies for students in the Canby School District. This is an adjustment from the previous few school years. Attached, you’ll find a list of supplies by grade level, which is the same for all Canby elementary schools. We encourage families to prioritize a full-sized backpack, water bottle, and earbuds for your student. If you need assistance purchasing supplies, please contact the school. In addition, the Canby Center will hold a community event for families to receive school supplies this summer. Watch for further communication about that. It is important to the Canby School District that all students have access to the tools they need to learn.

Students from Eccles and Ninety-One school will have potential busing support to attend the program at Knight Elementary. Families will need to pick up their students at either Trost or Knight Elementary.
We will offer care from 2:30-4:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. Wednesdays) at the rate of $12 per day. Families can continue to choose full-time or part-time (M, W, F or T, TH) care.
