Superintendent Lavender Receives Award of Appreciation
(CGUHSD) The Governing Board presented Superintendent Lavender with an award of appreciation at the Governing Board meeting on Tuesday, November 7. They had this to say, "Superintendent Jeff Lavender has proven to this community and staff that a compassionate leader doesn't just talk about caring, but he acts. When the county data processing center communicated that they had a problem with getting checks to school districts all over Pinal County, Mr. Lavender immediately wanted to make sure we were communicating with our staff to give them fair warning about what was about to happen. He continued to monitor the situation and kept staff and board members informed. Mr. Lavender, on his own accord, drove to Florence to pick up the staff checks and was determined that no matter what time he got them back to town, the District Office would open to deliver checks to staff. The office opened at 8:15 p.m. on Friday night and many grateful staff members were there to pick up their much-needed checks. Word quickly spread around town about how the challenge was being handled from the time it first surfaced. Mr. Lavender rose above the occasion. We are so grateful for the leadership he has provided for us. Jim Rohn, entrepreneur and motivational speaker states, ‘The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant.’ This sums up Jeff Lavender very well."

MySchoolBucks Fee
November 7, 2023
Dear Parent and Guardians,
We have just been informed that MySchoolBucks App will be charging a $2.50 Fall 2023 Program due to rising costs. Beginning next week, some parents in the district will see a Fall 2023 Program Fee of $2.50 at their next transaction made on MySchoolBucks App. This fee will be charged only in connection with the first payment made during November & December 2023.
Like many other businesses, operational costs to deliver the MySchoolBucks platform and related services have increased. The Fall 2023 Program Fee is intended to help offset increased costs while continuing to provide the highest levels of technology, security, and privacy to parents and administrators using our service. The fee also helps to cover increased costs associated with our commitment to providing personal, live customer service to your staff and parents, without the school district incurring any unbudgeted costs.
Sincerely,

Scholarship Opportunities
It is a known fact college is expensive and the cost is rising. Do not let that deter you from applying for college. There are many opportunities to help you cover the cost of college. Scholarships are gifts of "free money" that do not need to be paid back, unlike student loans. Most scholarships can be awarded based on merit, which means that students earn them for having good grades, athletic talent, volunteering, or even for a certain demographic. Every year, hundreds of billions of dollars are awarded in scholarship money. There are many sources of scholarship, such as colleges and universities, military, individuals, communities, nonprofits, ethnic/historical organizations, businesses, religious groups, and more. Some scholarships are highly selective but many are not. The best practice is to apply for as many scholarships as possible and start early.

Traveling Garbage Gallery Art Program
Casa Grande artists are needed to participate in the Traveling Garbage Gallery Art Program. This public art project aims to turn garbage collection vehicles into moving works of art. The canvases of these heavy-duty machines offer nearly 32 square feet of space for artists to showcase their creativity. The proposed designs should promote an anti-littering campaign and emphasize the importance of keeping Casa Grande clean and beautiful. Don't miss your chance to add a touch of vibrancy and flair to neighborhoods with your artistic skills.
