May 2021
A Note from Dr. Hanson, Superintendent
Dear, Teachers, Friends, & Families,
Dear colleagues,
As the school year comes to a close, it is a time of reflection and a source of pride as we celebrate the tremendous achievements of our students. This year, I am the proudest I have ever been of our students, staff, and families. When the world came to an unrelenting pause due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, our school district and community chose to continue moving forward to support our students. This year we set our sights on two challenging objectives; provide in-person learning while providing a healthy and safe learning environment for our students, staff, and community. We did It! We did it because of you. Your genuine commitment to serve students and meet their needs with care and compassion.
I want to recognize each of you for your commitment, compassion, and perseverance during the entire school year. Together, we made a difference for our students, families, and community during a Global Pandemic. Thank you for your continuous hard work in doing what is right for students, staff, and families regarding caring for our students. Every day. . . WE ARE NPPS!
Our student accomplishments reflect the dedication, perseverance, and collaboration of staff throughout the district. I could boast for a long time about the many achievements worthy of celebration in each of our schools, departments, and activities. This year has been one of our most successful years experienced at every school by thoughtful, caring teachers, administrators, and staff.
Our purpose is to prepare students to become productive, responsible citizens. I want to recognize your everyday contributions in providing the best experiences possible for our students. Despite the restrictions and challenges caused by COVID Pandemic, we continued to focus on getting better every day, and we continued to find ways to leverage our resources—people, time, and relationships—toward boosting success for students and creating a district of strong and great schools of which our community can be proud of.
Each of you has made a positive difference for our students this year. THANK YOU! I hope you have an opportunity to rest and re-energize over the summer. Take time to relax, pursue a hobby, enjoy the interactions with friends and family. I wish you the best for those of you who are retiring after serving the district for so many years. You have contributed greatly to the greatness of our district. I hope you have great gratification in this next phase of your life.
Thank you again for your partnership and support during this challenging year. On behalf of the Board of Education and the district, we hope you and your families have a joyful, refreshing, and safe summer.
WE ARE NPPS!

MPCC - Seeks Feedback From Families With Students in Grades 7-12
In 2019, Mid-Plains Community College developed and implemented new strategic objectives. One of these strategic objectives is to strengthen partnerships with high schools. One goal is to make sure MPCC is delivering the same message and materials to all high schools. We also want to improve our communication with our area high school parents and students. The information provided by this survey will help us develop a plan to fulfill our goals. Below please find a link to a survey we are asking our area schools to share with all parents and guardians of students grades 7 – 12.
We greatly appreciate your support in helping us improve our communication and partnerships.

1:00 pm – Until Food is Gone
This is an OPEN AIR, DRIVE THRU Distribution. Patrons will drive their car through a line, and volunteers will bring the boxed food to the car. Free of charge. 325 Households will be served on a first come first serve basis. The Food Pantry is sponsored by the Food Bank of the Heartland.
Please start the line OUTSIDE of the school parking lot next to the tennis courts. DO NOT COME INTO THE PARKING LOT PRIOR TO THE SEMI UNLOADING THE DISTRIBUTION ITEMS.
If you are in the parking lot prior to the gates opening we will ask you to move your vehicle. When the mobile distribution begins, cars can drive up to the gate by the Northeast corner of the football field. Patrons will drive through the alley between the football field and the high school building, exiting on West A Street. Use only the entrance closest to the tennis courts to avoid congestion as students leave after school. While waiting for the distribution to begin you need to follow all traffic laws. Do not block driveways or streets for any reason. Safety is our number one concern and we do not want anyone to get hurt.

Technology
NPPS Parents,
If your current 6th - 11th-grade student plans to return to NPPS this fall, they will not turn in their assigned Chromebook during the summer and are encouraged to use it for their educational needs. If the device is not used in summer please charge the device and then store the device in a safe place in your home as your student will use it this fall.
If your student is not attending NPPS in the fall, please return the device to their school by Tuesday, May 18th.
It is possible to pre-purchase device insurance for the 21-22 school year as this would help offset costs for any damages that could occur this summer and during the 21-22 school year. This optional fee will be available through the IC Parent Portal app beginning May 5th.
If your student damages the device over the summer, please report this right away to the Technology department at 308-535-6060 so that we can repair the issue. If you wait till the start of school, your repair will be delayed and the device will not be immediately ready for use by your student.
*PreK through 5th-grade students using a district device at home for remote learning will need to turn in devices to their school by the last day of school Tuesday, May 18th.
