Announcements & Updates
- If you have not already done so, please review the communication from Mrs. Austenberg, emailed on August 22.
- If you need to drop an item off for your child during the school day, please leave the item (labeled) outside the front entrance and ring the intercom to alert the Main office. To minimize disruptions, unless the item is urgent, the Main office will not disrupt instruction to inform your child that an item has been dropped off. He/she is responsible for checking the front table.
- In the coming weeks, Mountain View Middle School's extracurricular clubs and activities will begin. Meeting dates are posted to the Mountain View website calendar and daily bulletin (available on the mobile app). For an overview of the various offerings, please view the attachment below. Note that the schedule and offerings for the fall HSA Enrichment session is forthcoming.
A note from Ms. Walsh
Happy first Friday of the school year, Mountain View! I am so happy to be back in school and to see so many new and familiar smiling faces. I am looking forward to a great year ahead. As our students get back into their school routine here are a few reminders about my role here at Mountain View:
As the School Counselor I have the privilege and opportunity to work with all students across various levels. I spend time with students individually, in group settings, and in classroom settings. I also collaborate with faculty, staff and parents to help to meet the social and emotional needs of each student. I hope that all students think of my office as a safe space where they are always welcome, where their feelings are always valued, where they can decompress and vent, and where they can seek out guidance if needed.
Looking ahead, on Friday, September 9, all students will have their first Advisory lesson. Our Advisory program helps to develop the important social emotional skills of self-awareness, self-management, responsible descision making, social awareness, and relationship skills. Advisory lessons often involve classroom discussions to help foster relationships, and hands on activities to promote team-building. You can always find an overview of our lessons on these weekly updates!
Please communicate with me if you feel as though I can offer support to your student or if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great weekend! :)
