What's Hatching in November?

Greetings Albion Families,

As we approach the season of gratitude and reflection, I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation for your continued support.

As we move forward into the holiday season and the rest of the school year, please know that we are committed to maintaining and improving the quality of education and support we provide to your children. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, and we look forward to sharing them with you.

I especially want to express my deepest gratitude for the privilege of working with such a wonderful group of students, parents, and staff. Your contributions and the vibrant spirit of our school make Albion a special place.

I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to become an integral part of our school community by joining our Parent Engagement Group.

Our Parent Engagement Group will play a vital role in fostering a strong partnership between the school and our parents. It will serve as a platform for parents to actively participate in shaping the educational experiences of our students. By joining this group, you will have the chance to collaborate with our dedicated staff, share your ideas, and contribute to the betterment of our school.

Here are some key responsibilities and benefits of being a part of the Parent Engagement Group:

• Collaboration: You will have the opportunity to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other parents to enhance the educational environment at our school.

• Influence: Your input and feedback will help us make informed decisions on school policies, programs, and initiatives.

• Learning: You will gain insight into the workings of our school and the broader educational system, which can be incredibly enlightening and empowering.

We are looking for parents who are enthusiastic, dedicated, and committed to the well-being and success of our students. Whether you have a lot of time to dedicate or just a few hours to spare, your involvement at different points throughout the school year can make a significant difference.

Choosing to be a member of the Parent Engagement Group, does not mean that you will be expected to take part in every and all discussions/meetings that we have. It simply means that you would be interested in being in the pool of people that are contacted about different opportunities that may arise. Most recently we reached out to some parents about being part of the Report Card Committee in order to get parents' perspectives on updating our current report cards.

Thank you for your continued support, and I hope to see many of you become active members of our Parent Engagement Group.

For the month of October, the teachers and students have been learning all about Stephen Covey's first habit of happy kids...Be Proactive. They've been discussing the difference between being proactive versus reactive and also focusing on those things that are within their Circle of Influence (being kind to others, doing homework, making good choices) instead of those things that they can't control (the weather, what others think of us, problems far away).

When students choose to be proactive they take responsibility for their actions and choices, which helps them develop a sense of control over their lives.

I am so excited to share the names of those students that received the September and October “SOARing Student” awards. Remember the “Soaring Student” award is given to students that are showing us that they are practicing the expectations of S.O.A.R so that they can be the best Purple Eagles they can be!

S.O.A.R. stands for...

Acting Responsibly,

and Respectful.

These students received a certificate and a coupon for Hoag Library. The coupon can be brought to the Hoag Library and can be used to get a free book out of the book vending machine.

So without further ado…I’d like to recognize the following students…

First graders enjoyed a great day of learning all about the human body. They even wore their very own scrubs! Students were able to rotate to different stations and take part in some pretty cool activities. There were smiles everywhere! Thank you to the first grade teachers that invested their time and energy into helping students make these great memories!

Mrs. Daly's 3rd grade classes were partying it up....and learning of course! The students got the chance to study under black lights with color all around them! They had different stations to rotate through as they practiced their ELA skills! Thank you for going that extra mile Mrs. Daly!

Our elementary teachers went above and beyond to dress up and enjoy some silliness with their students. I'm still trying to decide who enjoyed the costumes more....the students or the TEACHERS?!?!

Turkey is in trouble. Bad trouble. The kind of trouble where it’s almost Thanksgiving...and you’re the main course. But Turkey has an idea—what if he doesn’t look like a turkey? What if he looks like another animal instead? After many hilarious attempts, Turkey comes up with the perfect disguise to make this Thanksgiving the best ever!

Please remember that our teachers are providing instruction to students until 3:15pm every day. When students get picked up before that time for an early dismissal, they are missing important information. We appreciate you utilizing early dismissals only when necessary (i.e. appointments).

For safety purposes, the playgrounds are CLOSED to the public during the school day. We kindly ask that you wait until after the dismissal process has finished (typically it is over by 3:30pm) to enter the playground area. Thank you :)
