The Stingray Review
Seaside Elementary
Dear Seaside Families,
Thank you so much for taking part in Kindness Week 2024! We thank you so much for the donations of food items, toiletry items, pajamas, socks, and books. We have combined everything together with our other St. James cluster schools and have been able to make a huge difference in our community by donating all these items. We really appreciate your support. Our students were able to truly learn about what kindness is and be able show their kindness in so many ways! Thank you for being a huge part of our team at Seaside Elementary! As the weather warms up and hopefully stays this way, I hope everyone has an amazing weekend! We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, January 29, 2024.

❤️ Kids Heart Challenge ❤️
Our school has kicked off the American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge (KHC)! This year, we are working to help all our students, staff and families learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. It’s easy to learn and even our youngest students can play a part by calling 911 and finding a trusted adult. And, as always, we will all be learning how to take care of our hearts and minds, while helping raise funds for kids with special hearts!❤️
Students and staff are excited to get going on helping kids with special hearts and learning how to take care of our own. If you haven’t already, JOIN OUR TEAM at heart.org/schools or by downloading the AHA Schools app. Plus, the classrooms in each grade level with the most students registered online will win the classroom challenge! The top 3 fundraisers at each grade level will get to Silly String Mrs. Arnold!!! Register now!
Any questions please reach out to our PE teacher Michelle Arnold marnold@horrycountyschools.net

Congratulations to Caitlin Shuppy one of our second grade teachers. She has been named by the employees at Seaside Elementary The Golden Stingray for the month of January. The Golden Stingray Award highlights employees who possess a high-quality work performance, diligence, and dedication in carrying out their duties and carrying out the mission of Seaside Elementary. The Golden Stingray Award is given out monthly and voted upon by everyone at our school. Ms. Shuppy is an extremely hard worker and we are so proud of her. We are very thankful that she is a Seaside Elementary Stingray!
Congratulations!
Thank you to Big Air Myrtle Beach & 810 Bowling for recognizing Wendy Wallen our lead interventionist. She is the Big Air Big giveback winner for the month of January at Seaside Elementary!
🦺Safety🦺
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As part of our Crisis Management plan, Seaside Elementary takes part in safety drills every year. On Tuesday, January 30, students and staff at Seaside Elementary School will be participating in our third mandatory practice lockdown drill for the school year. We are required to hold that drill quarterly during the school year. The purpose of this drill is to prepare our students and staff for any emergency that may occur where it may be necessary for us to lock down classrooms and/or the entire building.
In preparation for the drill, our staff will explain to students that we are practicing being safe just as we do for tornado, earthquake, wanding, and fire drills. Staff members will walk through the steps with students to ensure that they know and understand our lockdown procedures. Staff members will also prepare students prior to Thursday morning about the announcement that will be made prompting everyone to follow our school lockdown procedures, and that this is simply practice.
Safety is our top priority at Seaside Elementary School. We conduct drills because we want students and staff members to be safe as well as to develop an awareness of their roles in these various scenarios. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the upcoming lockdown drill.
Sincerely,
Andrew Ball Ed.D, Principal
Morgan Emsley, Assistant Principal
Safety Drills happen monthly! Our Stingrays have done an amazing job following all of our safety procedures for our safety drills. We are so proud of them! Please check out the different types of safety drills that we will be conducting throughout the entire school year.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found!
Our Lost and Found continues to have a lot of very nice jackets and sweatshirts that have been left on the playground or other areas of our school. If your child is missing something then it is most likely in our Lost and Found. Please check out my picture and you may find that your child's clothing is in this picture. I want to make sure everyone is able to get their nice clothing/items back.We still have a lot of things in our Lost and Found!

Attendance Information
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders!
Our doors open for our students at 7 A.M.
- Breakfast begins at 7 A.M. and ends at 7:35 A.M.
- Tardy bell rings at 7:40 A.M. (Please make sure you are on time.) Our car rider line is empty from 7-7:25. Everything starts to pick up right at the last 15 minutes.
- Dismissal is at 2:40. If you are picking up in the car rider line, please have your car rider tag on your dash board the entire time or you will be asked to park and come to the front office.
Attendance Matters!
Research shows that consistent attendance is a critical piece of student success. Absences with doctor notes (medical, eye, dentist) will be marked as medically excused. If absent due to death in the family an obituary or memorial information is needed to excuse for bereavement.
If any of the following occur Horry County Schools requires an attendance meeting to implement an AIP (Attendance Intervention Plan):
- 3 consecutive unexcused absences
- 5 accumulative unexcused absences
- 10 unexcused tardy/early sign-outs
Morning Car Rider Line!
I am sending this message out in hopes that we can have our students here before 7:40 A.M. Our car rider line starts at 7 A.M. The car rider line is empty from 7 till 7:25 A.M. Right at that last 10 to 15 minutes is where everything gets really busy. Please help us out in the morning and come earlier so when the bell hits at 7:40 A.M. all of our students will be in the building. This way our instruction can start on time. I appreciate all of your help with this.
Message from Nurse Hopkins
Please reach out to Nurse Hopkins if your child has any medical issues that the school may need to know (severe allergies, asthma, diabetes, seizures, etc.) If you need to reach her please call the school at 843-650-3490 or by email at MHopkins002@horrycountyschools.net. It is imperative that we know about any medical issues so that we are able to keep your child safe at all times. Please make sure that your child's shot records are up to date.
Please check your child's backpack!
I cannot stress this enough. Please check your child's backpack for inappropriate items, personal electronic devices, toys, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, sports cards, plush toys etc. We do not want your child losing their personal items. We are not responsible for any lost items. We do not want any items coming to school that may cause a safety issue or cause your child to get into trouble for. We thank you in advance for doing this! We really appreciate it!
Horry County Schools 2023-24 School Calendar!
Please make sure to refer to the 2023-24 Horry County Schools student calendar! There is no school for students on February 19th and 20th!
When coming to eat lunch with your child
We love having parents coming to eat with their child. Please sit with your child at the tables that have been put out for parents. Please make sure to not travel anywhere else but to the lunch room and back down to the office. Parents are not allowed to walk around with or without their student around the building unsupervised.Thank you for your attention to this!
Thank you for your help!
Students will only be allowed to eat with their parent. Please do not have a friend come to sit with you and your child. Please do not photograph any other children other than your child. We have a do not photograph list and we have students who cannot be photographed.
