Upcoming Mega Lunch Guest Speaker: Samuel Pietsch
Samuel Pietsch, a senior at UT Dallas
Date: Wednesday, March 23rd
Topic: Drones
Location: Auditorium
Time: 10:41-11:20 AM
The talk will concern how drone strikes have evolved from when the United States first started using them as a counter-terrorism tool and will cover the arguments for and against the use of drone strikes
“Most of my adult life has been shaped by speech and debate. I was on my debate team for all four years in high school. Before I graduated I was ranked among the top fifty extemporaneous speakers in the country and was part of a public forum team that was also ranked in the top fifty nationally. Both of these activities required me to cultivate extensive knowledge on a variety of domestic and international issues such as the issues of drone strikes that I will be discussing at Weatherford High School.”
Juniors & Seniors- Save the Date! March 31st College Day

Weatherford ISD is committed to providing a safe environment for our Kangaroo family and reminds everyone that it's particularly important to obey traffic laws and drive safely in school zone areas.
If you drive to school, through a school zone, or in neighborhoods near a school, be sure to follow these safety tips to keep all members of our community safe:
- Please abide by the cell phone law. Texas drivers cannot use cell phones in school zone areas unless the car is stopped or the phone is used with a hands-free device.
- Drivers with learner's permits are prohibited from using handheld cell phones in the first six months of driving.
- Drivers under the age of 18 are prohibited from using wireless communications devices.
- Look both ways for pedestrians and bicyclists before moving forward in the drop-off and pick-up zones.
- Obey the 20 mph speed limit in all school zones and 10 mph in school parking lots.
- Be patient during drop-off and pick-up if you drive your student to school or drive near a school.
- Yield to pedestrians at all intersections.
- Be aware of students where there are no sidewalks along the road and when backing out of school parking lots.
- Watch for younger and less predictable children who may dart into the road.
- Stop and wait for school buses when red lights are flashing.
Thank you for helping us provide for safe student travel near all Weatherford ISD schools.
Tardy Sweeps Continue
We have begun tardy sweeps in order to encourage students to get to class on time.
1) Teachers will lock and close their doors at 8:15 or when the bell for class begins.
2) If a student is locked out of the room after the tardy bell rings then students will need to come to Admin B o r Admin C for a pass.
3) Students will not be admitted to class without a pass.
4) Students who get caught in the tardy sweep will serve lunch detention.
We will assign students detentions at tables outside the door of Admin B or C.
