All 11th graders received testing information in their CMS email inbox from Ms. Anderson on Wednesday, February 22nd. General testing information is at the link below. If you are approved for an ACT Accommodation, please check your email for specific tesing information.

Dear Charger Family,

As we approach the end of the quarter, there are some very important dates that we want to share with you:

• The midterm exam window will run from Mon, Mar 20-Fri 24.

• The last day to submit 3rd quarter work for CMVHS Courses is Tue Mar 21 @ 11:59 - last day to submit work.

• Please note that Fri, Mar 17th will be the last day that CMVHSr teachers will assign work for the 3rd quarter.

This Tuesday, March 7th, we will be administering the ACT which is a required test for all juniors on March 7th. Again, on Tue, Mar 7th-All Juniors are Required to take the ACT Exam in-person at CMVHS (1900 Newcastle).

• If you have a senior and you haven’t gotten a yard sign, now is the time to celebrate your senior and to share the pride with your neighbors. You can order a senior sign here.

• If your child needs any school supplies, we want to help! Please fill out the form below so that Ms. Blumenfeld, CMVHS School Social Worker is aware and can assist.

• Seniors: Many of you have earned scholarships. Congratulations! Please complete this form!

It’s Always a Great Day to be a Charger!

The CMVHS National Honor Society organized a food drive benefitting Loaves and Fishes. They collected 372 pounds of food to help our neighbors in need. Thank you to all the kids and our NHS advisor, Ms. St. Martin, for all of their hard work!

Reminder that NCVPS classes do not take time off for Spring Break. Students who have travel plans or will otherwise have limited access during CMS Spring Break (April 7-April 14) should reach out to their NCVPS teacher to let them know--they will work with you!

Gamers- Main goal is to establish your STEM Team! STEM Team winners will receive their own PCs (a little incentive) We have to complete our STEM pitch video by Tuesday.

Wellness Wednesday will be from 10:00-10:15 this week focusing on meditation again! We will vote to decide what our focus will be for the next 4 weeks. This is a safe space and will have an open chat about whatever we want after meditation. Login with Ms. Schaefer here.

The Council of the Great City Schools is partnering with Dr. Bernard Harris to offer the CGCS-Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships Program for high school seniors who are planning to major in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Named after former astronaut, physician and businessman Bernard Harris, who was the first African American to walk in space, the scholarships are available to 2023 graduating seniors in urban school districts represented by the Council.

Four $5,000 scholarships for two males and two females each will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic seniors pursuing studies in STEM-related fields in college next fall.

To apply for the 2023 scholarship, the application must be submitted online by April 10, 2023. HERE

School Supply Request Form

Beginning 2nd semester, CMVHS students will be required to attend all Zoom sessions with their cameras on and faces visible on the screen. Learning is an interactive activity between the student and the teacher. This essential interaction can't take place when teachers can't see their students! Additionally, students should be prepared to communicate verbally with teachers, and not through the chat. Students who do not follow the cameras-on policy will be removed from the Zoom and marked absent for the day. We are really looking forward to creating an interactive, engaging learning experience for all students!

CMVHS students have access to several tutoring resources for additional/off hours help with their course work:

• Tutor.com: provided by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Library. Student get 10 free online tutoring sessions each week with a live tutor.
• NCVPS Peer Tutoring Center & Virtual Buddies: For NCVPS classes only. Students can sign up for help with specific courses or connect with a virtual buddy for help with time management, motivation, etc.
• Khan Academy: Free for all students. Short lessons in the form of videos and supplementary practice exercises.
• School House World: From the founders of Khan Academy. Global community for free, small-group or 1:1 tutoring sessions on Zoom in SAT® Prep and math–from Pre-algebra to Calculus.

This is for June Graduates ONLY - Is a school which you are applying to requiring a mid-year transcript? If so, please complete the CMVHS Mid-Year Transcript Request Form. This google form is NOT for an initial transcript submission (1st transcript sent to a school for admission purposes). If you are unsure if a college and/or university requires this, please call the admissions office at the school.

**Please note, mid-year transcripts will not be submitted until after rank is run on the 15th day of the new semester.**

After receiving the certificate of completion from the Driver's Ed company, students may pick up their eligibility certificate from CMVHS. Students must be accompanied by a parent and be in good academic standing (passing at least half of all classes) in order to receive the eligibility certificate. Questions? Email Ms. Glover.

We are very proud of our students, and we want to recognize everyone for their accomplishments. This information is also used to establish a total scholarship earnings report for the district for the Class of 2023.
