Around the School Spotlight
Las Posadas is a tradition, celebrated in Mexico and throughout Latin America, that allows families to celebrate the Christmas season. Groups of families, often led by children, perform a “play” each evening leading up to Christmas Eve, or Nochebuena. The DLI team at Hawks View commemorated the holiday this year by going from classroom to classroom and asking for shelter. At the end of the procession, all of the students from the DLI program gathered together for a “feast” of pan dulce (sweet bread) and chocolate caliente (hot chocolate)!
On Thursday, our staff put on an amazing talent show for the kids. This was a Fun Run prize that they earned from the fall. While there were many incredible acts, we wanted to share a fun one with that the kids seemed to really enjoy. We hope it puts a smile on your face!
Winter Break
There will be no school for students December 18th – January 2nd, for winter break, and district buildings will be closed. Students will return on Wednesday, January 3rd which is an early release day with dismissal at 1:15.
Thank You to our Wonderful PAC and Families
Thank you for all of your support, kind words and treats leading up to winter break. We are so fortunate to have the amazing relationships we do with both our PAC Board and our families. We certainly felt the love this week and appreciate all you do for Hawks View staff and students.
Food and Toy Drive
Not only did we surpass our goal with canned foods, but your generosity with toy donations blew us away! We sent out a “help” email and you answered! In addition to over 7,000 canned foods, hundreds of toys were delivered to support families. A HUGE thank you to Mrs. Conrad and our students in the Canned Food Club for all of their time, energy and hard work. There are many moving parts to a large fundraiser like this and their efforts have not gone unnoticed. We know that the donations from this community will make the holiday season brighter for many here locally!
