STREAMED LIVE ON YOUTUBE CHANNEL: Participants who do not wish to speak or access Spanish interpretation may view and listen to the meeting of the Board of Trustees live on the LESD YouTube Channel here. Login and password are not necessary.

INTERPRETATION AND VIRTUAL COMMENTS: It is the desire of the Board of Trustees to provide interpretation in Spanish and allow virtual access for the public to give comment.

Interpretation: Beginning March 10, 2022, persons wishing to listen to the board meeting with Spanish interpretation may join virtually on Zoom. To ensure interpretation, please complete the Google form here.

Virtual Public Comment: To run a smooth and organized meeting of the Board of Trustees, we ask the public wishing to address the board to do the following:

1. Complete the Google form here.
2. Login to Zoom from a quiet place with limited background noise.
3. Turn on the camera and microphone when called upon to make public comment.

IN-PERSON PUBLIC COMMENT: Persons wishing to address the Board of Trustees in-person, are required to wear a face mask at all times while visiting the Lawndale Elementary School District located at 4161 W. 147th Street, Lawndale CA 90260.

Refer to Meeting Conduct Board Bylaw 9323.

DI Kindergarten Applications will be available January 14th.

PROGRAM GOALS

• Bilingualism and Biliteracy: The development and maintenance of Spanish and English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing

• Multicultural Understanding: Students develop positive attitudes and appreciation toward world languages and cultures in our global society, promoting their involvement in world issues.

• The integration of students with a wide range of abilities

• A positive environment in which the minority language (Spanish) is respected and celebrated

• Provide an opportunity for students to acquire a second language while maintaining their native language and culture.

• Maintain academic performance at or above grade level in English and Spanish as measured by classroom grades, common assessments, benchmarks and state assessments.

Here are a few reminders/recommendation for parents:

• Put your childs name on ALL of their belongings

• No toys or game cards are allowed in school (Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh/baseball cards etc)

• We recommend our students to wear hats on really hot and sunny days, especially during PE (Mondays and Tuesday).

• Bringing a water bottle that they can refill in the “Hydration Station”.

• Packing an extra mask just in case it rips or gets dirty.
