On behalf of the entire Walker staff, thank you for picking up the most recent round of supplies for students. Please remember to add those new supplies to the current school supplies already at home. We know that when students are organized and prepared for class, they are able to work more efficiently.

It is hard to believe, but we are quickly approaching the 100th day of school! This year has certainly moved quickly, and we are planning a fun celebration for all students to commemorate this monumental event, on February 12. Teachers will share grade level specific information closer to the event.

Students will now have Music as a class as we have switched from Art to Music. We are excited to have Ms. Millett rejoin our staff, and know the students will enjoy her music lessons. Music class will remain for the rest of the year.

The Walker Bulldog News will now be published twice a month. While we strive to include all important information in the newsletter, there may be times, when information is time sensitive. For these situations, information will be posted as an announcement on Seesaw. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

It looks like we are in store for a wintery weekend full of snow and colder temperatures. We hope you are able to enjoy some time in the snow, and then are able to warm up with a mug of hot cocoa; don't for get the marshmallows! Have a wonderful weekend, and stay safe and warm.

The State of Illinois requires schools to educate all students (pre-school through 12th grade) about sexual abuse and assault awareness, Erin’s Law legislation.

Summit School District 104 uses age-appropriate lessons to educate students about: safe touch and unsafe touch, safe secrets, and unsafe secrets, and how to get away and tell a trusted adult. The lessons teach children to: recognize child sexual abuse and report abuse.

Lessons will be presented by Mr. Hofer during regularly schedule SEL lessons via Zoom.

Parents must complete a permission slip for students to participate. If you have already done so thank you; if not, please complete the permission slip by clicking the link below. Permission slips are due by February 12.

While playing in the snow can be great fun, consider checking out some virtual family friendly activities. You can visit some of the Chicago museums from the comfort of your home. Just click the link to view available offerings.

We are excited to offer no-cost dental care for all of our District 104 students. The mobile dental bus will be taking walk-ins from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Feb 16, 17, 18 and 19 through a non-profit organization called Mobile Care Chicago. The mobile unit will be parked at the Heritage Middle School parking lot, near door seven.

Mobile Care’s dental clinic provides free cleanings, fillings, and follow-up care that fulfills our school’s dental exam requirements. No insurance required. All district students are eligible for free dental services. First come first serve.

The dental clinic also has updated safety features that exceed national guidelines to prevent the spread of germs and illnesses. For more information go to www.mobilecarechicago.org .

All students must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Dental treatment form will need to completed onsite before they can be seen.

Please note: The school building is not open to the public at this time. Please expect to wait in your car or outside. Dress for the weather. Visits take approximately 10 minutes.

Estamos encantados de ofrecer atención dental sin costo para todos nuestros estudiantes del distrito 104. The Leadershop is a community agency based in LaGrange providing supports and programming for youth. The LeaderShop empowers youth to become community-minded individuals through diverse programs that foster confidence, knowledge and leadership. On February 3, staff from the LeaderShop will be hosting an open house to share information with families. Please review the attached file, if interested.
