4th Grade Science with Mr. McIntosh
Looking Back –
We finished our first exploration of Earth science with a look into two other slow but powerful forces that change the Earth – glaciers and wind. This unit has given us a good idea of how water, gravity, wind, and ice can each contribute to the weathering of the Earth’s surface and eventually produce the soil that we depend on to grow our food. Next up – a look at the choices of how we produce our energy.
Looking Ahead –
Although we will have Class Connect sessions next week, there is no OLS lesson scheduled. Instead, I have put together a slideshow with an article and a video that will explore the topic of renewable and non-renewable energy sources. I thought that this would wrap up our study of Earth science quite nicely even though we will return to the study of energy in physics later in semester two. You will find the lesson slides, offline assessment, and Learning Coach answer key in the OLS File Sharing tab. I have created this video to help you find where those files are and how to access them. These files were also sent by email so check your inbox from this week to find them there also.
Science of Space for the Week: This week saw the landing of the InSight mission on Mars – the first landing on Mars in six years! Check out this video to see why information about Mars might be a key to understanding the history of the Earth.
