Welcome back! After an extended summer break the 2022/2023 school year is here. There has been a lot done over the summer and the maintenance and janitorial staff have the school clean and ready for students to return. Teachers have been getting their classrooms ready and everyone is excited for the return of students to the building. This school year aims to be one that returns us to our true norm, with no looking back, as we keep MOVING FORWARD!

Here are some highlights:

• First Day of School is 9/6
• The school day will be beginning 5 minutes earlier at 7:40 am and conclude at 2:40 pm
• Lunches have been extended to 41 minutes
• Breakfast will be served from 7:20 am - 7:40 am
• There will no longer be Double Time after Block 1.
• As a result of construction there will be limited student parking this year. Please click here to view a video on specific driving/parking instructions. If a student parks in a faculty or staff location, they are subject to having their vehicle towed at the owners expense.
• Attendance reminders: per state law, students may not miss more than 10% (18 school days) for an excused or unexcused reason. No more then 8 parent/guardian notes may be written in a school year. Any days missed beyond 8, must be accounted for by a valid medical or legal professional.
• Silver Cord: All Silver Cord hours will be entered and verified through an on-line system. Please click here to create an account.
• Any student who participates in any athletics, clubs, organizations, and/or drives and parks on school property is subject to participate in our random drug testing pool.

We would like to welcome back Mr. Jamie Yonkin, as our new Assistant Principal, replacing Mr. Marc Walter who moved to Schick Elementary in the spring. Mr. Yonkin is looking forward to a great school year, reacquainting himself with the older students and getting to know the new ones.

For the 2022-2023 school year, we will again utilize the Parent Portal to verify and update guardian contact information for your student. This will allow you to update your information at any time! This process will also acknowledge the receipt and acceptance of a number of district policies including, but not limited to the student handbook, technology agreement, and photo consent.

The Google Chrome browser is strongly recommended when completing the Contact Verification process.

Please access the Parent Portal from the Loyalsock Township School District website. If you already have an account, you can enter it as usual to begin the verification process. Instructions to complete Contact Verification are contained in this video tutorial.

If you do not have a Parent Portal account, you will need to register for one. Instructions to create an account are contained in this video tutorial.

If you do not verify this information, you cannot move forward to view your student’s schedule, locker information, etc.

LTHS has again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a 2022 Nationally Ranked High School. We were also ranked in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018 – 2021.

LTHS is ranked #2,332 in the National Rankings, #81 in Pennsylvania and #1 in the Williamsport Area. Schools are ranked on their performance on state-required tests, graduation rates and how well they prepare students for college.

The data suggests that one of our strengths is our ability to continually “chip away” barriers in order to close the achievement gap for historically struggling subgroups of students on Keystone Exams. Additionally, we continue to make strides with the number of students choosing AP coursework and performing well on those AP exams.

Mrs. Campman, school counselor for grades 11 and 12, welcomed her 2nd daughter to the world, Dove Charlotte Campman, on August 5th. Mrs. Campman is currently out on maternity leave and is scheduled to return to LTHS in December.

LTHS is currently in need of Head Baseball and Boys Varsity Tennis coaches.

Applicants should possess prior experience coaching baseball at the Secondary or Collegiate Level. Good communication and time management skills are necessary.

All mandated clearances, physical, and TB test results are required prior to employment.

The Board approved the following school breakfast/lunch prices for the 2022-2023 school year: The USDA has approved schools to serve FREE meals to students regardless of income during the 2022-2023 school year. Students are entitled to one free breakfast and one free lunch each school day*.

*Secondary Students:

Second Breakfast: $1.75

Second Lunch: $3.00

You will be dropping off your high school student(s) between 7:20-7:40 a.m. on the West Side of the building. Please turn in from Loyalsock Dr. and pull in to the loop on the West Side of the building. Please be careful as you exit the loop, as you will be pulling in to MS drop off traffic, please move to the adjacent (left) lane for thru traffic to exit, as MS parents/guardians will be using the inside lane for drop off between the gym and MS main office. You should NOT under any circumstances stop on Loyalsock Dr., in front of the HS, to drop off your students. This will cause significant safety and traffic issues.

Please be mindful of our crosswalks designed for high school student and staff drivers parking for the school day on the north side of campus. Do not use this parking lot to drop off students!

At the Loyalsock Dr. intersection (exiting the road which is on the back side of the baseball field), all vehicle traffic (middle school and high school parents) must turn left and head east.

Vehicles may then use either Fredna or Richards Ave. to gain access away from the school campus. Diverting vehicles in this direction will ease the congestion at the corner of Northway Rd. and Loyalsock Dr.

This process will be the same for pick-up at 2:40 pm.

If you are a student driver, please take a moment to watch the video below, created by Dr. Reitz, to assist you with updated student parking instructions, as a result of the continued construction.

Are you a future teacher? If so, Loyalsock Township School District can use you NOW! Through Act 86, you are eligible to substitute teach if you have at least 60 credits.

Do you have the LTSD School App? It's a great tool to help you keep up to date with everything happening in the LTSD. Just visit the App store, search Loyalsock, download and then in settings, add the schools you want to follow. You can also copy things from the calendar onto your own personal Google Calendar, as well!
