Vista Registration

Parents,

We have some very important information you will need to complete your child’s registration on Thursday and Friday. They are doing registration differently this year and you will need to register your child AT VISTA instead of here at school. The only 2 days you are able to do this is tomorrow, Thursday, February 16th from 4:00-7:00 pm or Friday, February 17th from 8:15am to 12:15pm. No appointment is necessary so please come anytime within those time frames.

Prior to your registration, there are some things you will need to have filled out. We are attaching the forms and you will need to take these with you to the next steps. They will all get their CORE classes of Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies, but you will need to fill out what they want to do for their Specials classes (they will be called Exploratory Classes next year.)

This year they are offering what is called Exploratory Clusters which are 2 classes given for the year. One for the fall semester and one for the spring semester.

The clusters offered are:

Cluster 1: ART/MEDIA (Art for fall and Media for spring)

Cluster 2: JOURNALISM/CREATIVE WRITING (Journalism for fall and Creative Writing for spring).

Cluster 3: CAREER EXPLORATION IN HEALTH/SCIENCE TECH ENGINEERING (Health for fall and Science Tech for spring).

If you pick a cluster you HAVE to take both classes attached to it, not just the one you may like. You will need to decide if they would like a cluster or just a regular exploratory class like Band, Orchestra, Choir, Drama, PE, or Computer Science.

They are also offering something new with the music program. Many students aren’t sure of the instrument they want to choose once the year starts, so now they are offering a Fine Arts Exploration. This allows them to try a new music class each 9 week period. During this time they can try different instruments and types of music every quarter. If you have more questions about the music you can ask the counselor at registration. Please reach out to us if there is anything you don't understand.

Please make sure you attend these next steps on Thursday and Friday, they are very important. If you do not attend, the school will create their schedule for them, and it may be hard to get the schedule changed by then.

Lastly, if you are wanting your child in Honors courses next year the application deadline has already passed. However, if you are still wanting them in Honors please let the person who is registering them know you want to apply. We can give them a recommendation letter and get your child’s test scores to complete the application.
