Principal Message
Hello, Cooper Families and friends,
The crisp air is upon us as we enter November and near the 50th day of school! It has been an amazing start to the school year with so many exciting learning and socializing events. Thank you to our PTO for organizing the Playground Mixer, Book Fair and Trunk & Treat! We appreciate all our Cooper family support!
During the first two months of school, students have learned and practiced school and classroom routines and expectations, but also have learned about setting personal learning goals. Not only did each student learn why goal setting is important but also reviewed their own personal data with the help of their teacher and set their own learning goals. Please ask your student about his/her goals and the tasks being done to improve in these areas. You may even have some suggestions!
If there is anything that I would ask from you, I would ask that you continue to encourage your child to READ, READ, and READ some more! Read with your child, read to your child, listen to your child read – all are GREAT ways to encourage the love of reading!
I want to invite all of you to our FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT- CAMP READ SMORE. This is Tuesday, November 15th 5:30-6:30pm. It will be a "camping theme". You can bring your tent, sleeping bags, flashlights and enjoy and fun time with the family reading "under the stars", flash light reading and playing some fun reading and math games. Look for a flyer coming home soon.
Just a reminder, there is NO SCHOOL Wednesday, Nov. 16th and then again on November 23 -25 as we celebrate Thanksgiving. I wish you all a restful and thankful Thanksgiving.
I appreciate your continued support and encouraging your child to be a life-long learner.
Mrs. Jackey Syens

Chromebooks Home on Fridays-
Student Chromebooks will be sent home every Friday starting on November 4th. Our expectation is that each child complete the following: 30 Minutes of i-Ready reading and 30 minutes of i-Ready math. Students can also earn points to play some fun learning games, if they have completed the lessons.
When your child completes i-Ready lessons, they are completing activities and games at their level. Students have been assessed in September and now have learning plans to match their skill level. Parents will not need to assist during the lessons. After 30 minutes of both math and reading, students will most likely will not need to complete any other work on their computer. Teachers will be able to see your child's progress on completion of i-Ready lessons. Students will need to earn at least a 75% on each lesson or your child will have to complete a similar lesson again.
Please remember to have students charge their Chromebooks on Sunday and bring them back on Monday. Students use their Chromebooks every day at school.

Ms. Porosky, Cooper and Dyer's Art Teacher has lots of creative lessons to engage and expose your student to various artistic mediums, styles and professional artists. It is so enjoyable to watch each student's artistic expression and how each grows in their artistic development throughout the school year!
Have you ever thought of preserving some of your child's art work?
ART TO REMEMBER is a safe website that Ms. Porosky shared with families earlier this year. There's a special code to join so if you haven't yet joined, please read Ms. Porosky's newsletter for more information to join
Art to Remember helps parents and schools preserve children’s artwork and support art education through custom-printed keepsakes. In return, this company gives back money to our schools to support art education.
