Winter is Winding Down!
Have you checked your house and property lately?
Regularly Check Your Home
During the winter months, make routine checks on your home and property. If you are out of state, or unable to check on your property for an extended period of time, consider asking a neighbor or SPWA Board Member to check on your property throughout the winter months. Check your outside faucets for any forgotten hoses, dripping water, or icicles forming from a slow leak. Keep an eye out for standing water. One indicator of a water leak is the presence of standing water. Visit your property throughout the winter and walk around to check for any evidence of standing water.
Monitor Weather Events and Temperatures
Keep an eye on the weather! During big snow events or extended periods of sub-freezing temperatures, make arrangements to check on your property and home if you are not living in the home full-time. Consider adding wifi thermostats, weather stations, and security cameras if you are not able to be there consistently. Here is a link to a weather station located in Scenic Properties - https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/id/lowman/KIDLOWMA6
You can also check Idaho Power's website for outages:
Check road conditions before you head to the mountains! You can get road reports on 511 Idaho.
This time of year we frequently have rockslides and avalanches. If you travel Highway 21, you can get road reports on 511 Idaho. Check before you leave for any closures. If you travel Highway 17 through Garden Valley, and you are on Facebook, you can check out the group Garden Valley Idaho Local Road Reports. People will frequently post about the Banks Lowman Highway.

Snow Markers
Snow markers are 48 inch fiberglass poles that were installed to help us find cutoff and isolation valves when we have significant snow on the ground. Please do not remove snow markers.
Water Usage and Leaks
In November our average use of water was 19,606 gallons per day.
In December our average use was 21,781.
In January our average use was 22,906 gallons per day.
We are actively monitoring flow rates from the spring and the well, as well as system demand throughout the winter - it helps us identify leaks. One leak has been identified, and our Water Operator and Board members are currently looking for any evidence of additional leaks. If you notice any unusually wet ground please notify a board member.
Have a Leak?
As soon as you notice a leak or unusually wet area, contact a board member. They can help you determine if the leak is on your property and your responsibility, or if it is part of our community system. Please contact a board member before beginning any repairs. You can email them at spwaassociation@gmail.com.
Board Meetings

Larry Reynolds - Water Operator
I have been in Lowman for 30 years. The first 18 I was a weekender, and I now live here full-time with my wife Kathy. I was in the Army, then retired from Idaho National Guard in 2001 after 25 years of service. I was previously on the board for 6 years. Now I am the Water Operator. I volunteer because I feel I owe it to my community. I feel that the Lowmanites are great people that always pitch in and help their neighbors.
