SPHS Update
January 1st, 2024
SPHS Community,
Happy 2024! I hope you all had a wonderful break and were able to find time to rest and recharge.
We closed out 2023 with a fantastic Culture Day Pep-Rally celebrating everything that makes our SPHS community great. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make that a success.
As we step into 2024, let's carry the positive progress of the first part of this year forward. Our journey is a testament to the power of collaboration and community, and I am immensely proud of the work we've done together.
One important note to keep in mind is the end of the 1st Semester is fast approaching on January 19th. Recall that students must be passing five classes in order to be eligible for athletics and other extra curricular activities. This is especially important for students currently on teams or activities to pay attention to. You don't want to lose your eligibility! It's also EXTREMELY important for seniors to be on top of grades. Remember that you need 24 credits to graduate with an SPHS diploma. During your senior year it is very difficult to recover from a class with a failed first semester so be sure to invest in yourself by finishing the 1st Semester strong!.
Looking ahead, I am excited about the possibilities that the new year holds for SPHS. Our commitment to academic excellence and fostering a culture of inclusivity remains unwavering. Let us continue to inspire one another, embracing innovation and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth.
To our students, I encourage you to approach each day with curiosity and determination. Your potential is limitless, and I believe in your ability to achieve great things.
To our educators and staff, thank you for your tireless dedication. Your passion for teaching and nurturing young minds is truly the heartbeat of our school.
To parents and guardians, your support and partnership are invaluable. Together, we will continue to create an environment where every student can thrive.
As we embark on this new chapter, let us be guided by our shared values and the belief that, together, we can and will make a positive impact on the world.
Wishing you all a joyous and successful 2024. Here's to a year of growth, discovery, and countless moments of inspiration.
There will not be an update next week.
Take care and be well,

Students who ride the METRO Bus 24B into Portland. Please be advised that there is a change to the bus stops near SPHS. The stop on Highland Ave has been eliminated.
Students traveling TO Portland on Bus 24B after school should wait at the bus enclosure near the Community Center (corner of Nelson Rd and Evans St).
